Presenting a new IAAR from Greek Productions Inc:

Senatus Populusque Romanus, and welcome to Mare Nostrum! This IAAR is an interactive character-based story played in DoC 1.12 that YOU will help write!

Here are the roles you can choose:

Senator:
Spoiler :

The backbone of the Roman government, Senators vote on major decisions such as war, technological research, civics and religion. They set the policy for the nation as a whole, in peacetime and wartime.

Application for Senator:
Name:
Province (Each city counts as a province, until we have 4 cities there is no limit on how many senators can be from each province):
Political Party (Independents are allowed):

Political Parties can be created by any Senator, simply choose a name and outline your policies and goals.

Consul:
Spoiler :

The consul is the head of the government, and oversees the nation. He can override the decisions of the regional governors (see below) and commands armies in wartime. He also has a veto over the decisions of the senate, but can be overturned by a 2/3rds majority. (Yes, that's not the historical role of the veto, but it works better for a game.) The consul is chosen by a vote of all players in the game via a secret ballot PMed to me. There will be a period of campaigning lasting 3 IRL days before a 1 day voting period. Anyone can run for consul and they can be part of political parties.

Form to Announce a Campaign for Consul:
Name:
Political Party:
Previous Job:
It is also recommended to add a short speech about what you're going to do,

Centurion:
Spoiler :

Centurions can command a unit, as well as its promotions. They command it in peacetime exploration/garrison duty but also in wartime if the Consul does not order otherwise.

Centurion Application:
Name:
Unit:
Unit Name (If you don't have an idea one will be created for you):

Governor:
Spoiler :

Governors determine the build order and specialists for cities. Every 15 turns I will submit screenshots of the available build list for the governors to produce.

Governor Application:
Name:
City you wish to Govern:

There will be a few days for everyone to settle in and create their characters, but afterwards we will begin the campaigns for Consul and start the first set of turns!

Will you be a brave and daring centurion, fighting to expand Roman territory? A shrewd politician, making backroom deals to secure your own power? Or a governor, fine-tuning your city into the pride of Rome? It's your decision, now go and make Rome great!

AVE ROMA!

The Militarist Party:
The Militarist party believes in a strong military, and a Rome dominated world. They will always vote for policies of expansion that they deem not overly risky, and currently are the biggest force advocating an invasion of Carthage. The ranks of the militarists are made up mostly of general-senators united mostly by the idea of a conquering, ever expanding Rome. Their stance on domestic issues is to create buildings and works that directly or indirectly help future war efforts. More positive stances taken by the Militarists are such policies as The Marian Reforms which seek to open military service to all, and to grant land and wealth to veteran. Ave Roma!

Centurion Application

Name: Marcus Noyyus Corvinius (Marcus of the gens Noyyau, "Corvinia" branch (raven-black haired)).
Unit: Legion obviously (or however it's called in the mod you're using). Better if Warlord-led.
Unit Name: M. Noyyus Corvinius

Marcus Noyyus Corvinius, third son of the patriarch of a minor branch of the gens Noyyau, knew from an early age that if he ever wanted more than the simple life of a minor land owning family, he had to fight to obtain it. And fight he did, first a gang of local young and bored nobles, and then the enemies of Roma, as the local Quaestor gave him a choice: rot in prison for the assault on members of the nobility, or join the ranks of the Roman Legionaries.
In time, thanks to his skills in battle and tactical acumen, M. Noyyus rose from a simple Auxiliary to the coveted rank of Centurion, feared by his enemies and respected by his men.

Centurion Application:
Name: Carolus Septimus Brutus (the twelfth in his family to wield this name)
Unit: Praetorian\Legion, preferably warlord led
Unit Name: Legio V Umbra (The Shadow Legion)

=============================================

An image of Carolus Septimus Brutus (XII) on coins minted from his family estate in Umbria.

Carolus comes from a prominent aristocratic family east of Rome, with a long tradition of military service. He became noted for his own exploits at a young age. He is a brilliant tactician, who truly cares for the men under his command. He never drinks or eats opulently, preferring instead water and bread. His legion is trained to act both as a strong invasion force and garrison force, as well as support for any of Rome's spies (hence it's dubbing as "The Shadow Legion").

Another name given to his legion is "The Caroleans", due to their unwavering loyalty and discipline to their leader.

Spoiler :

The dragon standard of both his family and his legion

Is there another city? I'd like to be a governor, but can't until there's a place for me to govern.

Governor Application:
Name: Nicolias Edwardso.
City you wish to Govern: Roma

History:
Nicolias was born in a small village on the East coast of Italy. When he was eight his family was killed by invading Roman forces and he was pressed into slavery. He was sold to a master in Rome where he was ‘educated’ in road construction. He served for three years as an assistant until he was old enough to work on the roads. He worked under this crew for four years before being sold to a military engineer as a servant. When the legionnaire that owned him died he was freed and allowed to become a member of the legion. Nicolais served the legion as an engineer for almost a decade before attaining the status of a centurion for the rest of his tour before retiring to Rome.

He is now married, has two children and is the governor of Roma. People don’t talk about his enslavement or that as a libertine he is not entitled to hold office (though through a very contrived set of circumstances he isn't a libertine and thus is allowed to), mostly because the Senate likes him and he maintains a small private army (roughly 200 men) that has an almost cult-like loyalty to him.

I'm going to wait another day for sign-ups, then we'll begin consular elections.

I'm going to extend sign-ups for another day due to a sad shortage of players, so go and get some more players!

question, if one is already a centurion, can the centurion also become a senator. IRL commanders and senators were often one and the same, though i can understand if this is not allowed for balance purposes.

I think that'd be fine, I'll add your name to the Senatorial list if you wish.

im down with that. that way it'll make a bit more sense rp wise if i ever run for consul.

Consular elections will begin tomorrow, June 6th, at 1200 EST.

Any candidates will then have 3 days to declare their candidacy and to convince the voters (everyone in the story) why they should vote for you.

Then, we will have a day of election (24 hours) for you to PM me your vote. If you can't PM me during this time, let me know and we can arrange something.

Then, the new Consul, the Senators, Governors and Centurions will convene to give me your orders for the first 20 turns.

my party shall be the Militarist party

Can you tell us a little more about what you believe, and the policies you'll vote for as Senator?

Sure thing.

More positive stances taken by the Militarists are such policies as The Marian Reforms which seek to open military service to all, and to grant land and wealth to veteran. Ave Hail!

Their symbol is the Fasces
