In her report, Singer rebuts the following statements, which are popular perceptions often supported by the mainstream media:

10) Being a columnist means you are smart.
9) Threatening Allies is the best way to keep them.
8) Burgers are good.
7) Republicans love more their country than other americans.
6) Taxes are inherently bad and not useful.
5) Arabs hate us for no reason.
4) It's decent to lie to declare war but not for a blowjob.
3) Guns are good.
2) Americans should be considered over any other people.
1) The ennemy of my ennemy is my friend.

I'll tell you more about it later. I won't be there tonight. Tchüss !

The problem is, the media doesn't really propogate any of those. I fail to see the point of this

It's biting French sarcasm. Just sit there and be humiliated, like the rest of us.

Well, the purpose was just a joke. I didn't expect such a violent reaction. I just wanted to point out how ideological was John Stossel's story.

She may be referring to Hamilton Burger, who, as we know,
was never able to outwit Perry Mason.

Well, everyone, I'm sincerly sorry to have created that thread :(. I thought people wouldn't have taken it seriously. Now, it looks like a nasty thread and that wasn't my purpose. Just let it die. I feel just like a stupid student who thought he made a funny joke and realized afterwards everyone feels uncomfortable about it.

Just forget it and sorry. :(

...and the usual "you don't laugh at my jokes so you don't like humor" claim. Gosh, what a surprise. I find many things funny but I don't laugh at a certain person's "funny" screeds so therefore I must not like humor.

That might be funny, except I run into it so often from would-be comedians it's become pathetic.

The problem isn't that it was taken seriously, it's that it wasn't funny ;)

Some people equate a not-in-agreement response as "violence" for some reason. Projection, perhaps?
