Read here.

I must confess that I so far completely ignored this game and don't know anything about the story, the characters, the combat model. I didn't bother because I don't have an Xbox 360 and don't intend to buy one, but as of today the title has become interesting to me (just like I ignored KotOR before it was released for PC).
Only problem is it will be released in May, which seems dangerously close for the estimated (estimated by fans, not official) release date for Dragon Age.
I just don't have time for two Bioware games in a a few months.

Huzzah! I always liked the game on XBox 360 but a PC version opens possibilities for modding hopefully.

I'm not allowed to buy rated-M games and so Mass Effect is not a possibility for me. Not to mention that most consoles games end up being full of bugs and stability problems when ported over to the PC (just look what happened to Resident Evil 4!).

The only computer game that has become better on consoles so far is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and no console game has become better on the computer.

Are you serious? Can you mod new atmospheric effects, weapons, objects, landmasses, NPC's, quests, user interfaces, textures into the console version of Oblivion?

Everybody says the Xbox 360 version is better. I'm not even allowed to get it, but some of my friends have it and they like it alot (as a matter of fact, one of my friends who doesn't like RPGs has two that he likes, The Elder Scrolls IV and Mass Effect, but ESIV more).

Yes, ports usualy suck, but Bioware has done it before, KotOR is a very good game, which unfortunately I only got to play for an hour at a friends. Though I've heard that it is/was buggy/unstable sometimes.

EDIT: Swein, I salute your friend, for he is probably one of the few who really like Oblivion for the 360. But yeah, no mods for the 360 means it's missing a HUGE volume of fun and new stuff.

Blasphemy! The graphics aren't even as good on the console versions, the controls aren't as tight, and you sacrifice modability. :ninja:

I smell a witch that needs a burning!

Damn we need a torch and pitchfork mob emoticon.

Will this do? -->

PC Oblivion > > > X360 Oblivion

EDIT: To bring things back to the discussion. My friend has Mass Effect on the 360 so we'd play it over at his place. It's cool their making it for the PC. I'll probably need an upgrade for teh PC version.

We're school students here, and therefore we don't know how to mod and we just play the games (isn't that why video games exist in the first place?). Why are you so interested in modding anyway?

Modding makes a game even awesomer! Take Oblivion. Pretty awesome game but maybe you want a lusty argonian wildswoman in bikini armor and a sexy hood with a unique bow and arrows! Or maybe the textures aren't as cool as they were back in 2005 and you want better textures now your computer can handle the game at max settings now!

Because mods can and do vastly improve the game. You don't have to make them yourself, I don't, there are dozens of websites hosting mods for Oblivion. The mods range from new textures/meshes, to houses, quests, entire islands, towns, new items/armours/magic, they also especially get rid of the bloody awful scaled levelling system Oblivion has.

Pretty much every deep fan of Oblivion likes the Xbox 360 version more. Let's compare Gamespot's scores.

PC: 9.3/10
PS3: 9.5/10
X360: 9.6/10

And the Critic Scores

PC: 9.3/10
PS3: 9.3/10
X360: 9.4/10

And the User Scores

PC: 9.3/10
PS3: 9.1/10
X360: 9.5/10

The X360 version looks clearly better to me.

Oh, look, scores. How the hell would you know that every deep fan likes XBOX 360 version more? You've never even played the game. Yes, games are meant to be played, and mods are an awesome addition, like I said above, they can add a ton of stuff! As well as fix stuff. Bethesda has released The Elder Scrolls Constuction Set for both Morrowind and Oblivion, many games include tools for modders. Mods are also a way to explore new worlds and can even be their own game, seperate from the game the mod is using.

You have too much faith in "scores" and 'lists". With your stupid thread comparing half completed lists.

See how many sites host mods?

Swein, your just a kid. Your parents are holding you back. Join the dark side, download M rated games if you must. You cannot play kiddie games forever and expect to be taken seriously as a man.
