Authorities said an investigation showed a silver Hyundai Elantra, driven by Travis O. Longo, 20, of Albany, was traveling west. While turning on a curve at high speed, the Hyundai crossed into the eastbound traffic lane and crashed head-on into a white Kia Sorrento driven by Jessica M. Petrine, 29.

The crash caused the Elantra to roll and come to a rest on its roof, said state police.


Authorities said Petrine was killed and an 8-month-old baby girl in her car had non-life-threatening injuries. The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Longo was also pronounced dead at the scene, as well as both passengers in his car, including Chloe L. Richmond, 18, and Skye R. Huskey, 18, both of Lebanon.

State police said excessive speed was the cause of the crash, and reported that Longo's Elantra was going more than 100 MPH when he failed to make the turn.

Totally senseless. At least with gun deaths you can rationalize it as someone being severely mentally ill, people do crap like this all the time and think nothing of the potential consequences.
