Game Specs: 16 civs, 256 x 256 huge map, large continent. My continent holds Egypt, Rome, Greece (me), Bab, Persia, and Zulu.
Everyone to my north, and my 2nd largest territory locks out Zulu on my south from the rest of the continent. This is early middle ages, pre-nationalism (mpp).
Egypt declares war on Rome.
Persia declares war on Rome.
Zulu?? declare war on Egypt (the big one!).
I get sick of seeing Impi running through my territory, so I offer and get a mutual right of passage to hurry them through my road network. They become 'polite'. I think, why not sign one with everyone else.
Oh boy.
Egypt and Persia sign peace treaty with Rome.

Rome decares war on Zulu!
Bab declares war on Zulu!
Now I'm sick of all sorts of colors running rampant through my territory and getting in the way of my workers. I even have to 'squeeze' my workers in their troop movement chain to eventually get them to the tile I want
Fun thing is, my continent is plunging into the dark ages, and my Republic is going to become a super tech leader in a few more years. In the meantime, my territory is the 'official' war zone. There are more than 80 non-greek military units on my turf right now! Bad thing is, it takes FOREVER to play a turn now.
