Massive Slowdown

Occasionally while playing I hit a turn where the FPS seems to drop to near zero. Auto-center on next unit crawls along, and even bringing up a menu or entering an info screen is painfully slow.

To fix this I have to perform a reboot of my computer, just exiting the game and reloading, or exiting back to the desktop and restarting WM doesn't help at all.

Is this a known issue? Is there any way to avoid it?

Edit: Even starting a new game has the same slowdown associated with it.

1.) Update your graphic card drivers
2.) You Could try to install a new version of DirectX.

My DX was reinstalled in the past week. I did check for new drivers and updated, so far no more slowdowns, so hopefully that was the issue.

Thanks.

Well it's back again.

:(

Seems to happen during the AI turn, or when the turn changes back to my turn. Not sure if it's something the AI(s) is doing, but meh.

No one else has seen this?

Edit: rebooted to play some more, and the Illians built the deepening, which caused another massive slowdown and eventual crash. Apparently my gfx settings are too high, which is unfortunate. I will turn them down and see if that helps, else I may just be shafted playing this mod late into the game.

I too think its your computer that is not handling it well.

Check the temperatures while you have the problem, see if your processor downclocks during it. Some bios versions can do that for you. Good luck.
