Master Map Change Thread

2 wine in Cali isn't because of exports. It's because the US (mainly California) produces, not exports, a lot of wine. Sonoma/Napa isn't the only big wine producing part of California. As far as I know there is a lot of production south of San Francisco too.

You mean Daly City?

Or even further down in San Jose? San Jose used to be mostly orchards and farmland but most of that is only done in the northeast of the city now.
And they're not vineyards so they don't produce wine either.

There isn't any other notable wine-producing region in the Bay Area proper.

Russian geography; resource distribution is fine (overhaul of East Russia)
Geography and resource overhaul of the Congo and Mali areas
Canadian resource and geography refining
Middle east geography and resource refining
Australian geography
Brazil and Argentina overhaul

Those are things I still need help on, though

UPDATE: Removed Easter Island and replaced it with a coast tile. :o
Added river next to Ayyathuyah

Producing doesn't matter, as Civilization only uses 1 resource of wine per civilization.

The tile yield matters. At least a little bit ;).

Houston is still a monster of a city. Look at it again. Cow, spice, fish, cattle, cotton, and lots of plains. Not to mention it stops Mexican influence from going across the river. I think it has a chance to take a corn too.

I meant you can't build it because New Orleans is right next to it.

Putting it on the peninsula would make it a pretty crappy city, and you would have to found a city in Kentucky, which would bog America up with maintenance. It would also strangle both Savannah and New Orleans.

Using the "east not northeast" argument holds "no water" (as TD said a couple weeks ago) because the map is so distorted.

Okay. I still think it should be on the peninsula but I see you're standing by your decision.

The houston I'm talking about is still 2 tiles away from New Orleans

Give me your feedback on the rest of the world though. Especially Africa and Indochina

Nooo, Easter Island! D: (I know, no one ever settles it, but still...)
Argentina should have some Wine, preferably south of the country. Brazil should have Oil inside the jungle, some tiles west of Brasilia. Nothing else on my mind right now, sorry. :/

Yeah Easter Island is cool and everything but worthless in the same aspect as St. Helena
Argentina has dynamic wine

That's a what I like to a see!

Oh. My. God. This thread cannot proceed without me. :aargh:

I've been begging Leoreth to change the map around for ages. Begging.

I'll post my plans when I find the patience to do Photobucket again. Let's have some resource counts, so that we don't end up unbalancing the game.

Look at the file I attached a while ago and give me your opinion.
You look like a cool dude. Nice to meet you

Got this before an instant CTD:

Load failed

Unable to compress game data.

Ah... No SVN.. That really complicates things. I suppose go ahead and send me what you change and I'll see what's similar and what is missing.
You should get SVN, it's not that hard at all

I'll get the SVN.

The map files shouldn't actually be different though?

It's a save file though from the SVN

Alright, since my map changes are often incompatible with yours, and I can't do it while leaving the scenario intact, I'll just make my own 3,000 BC start and post it on here.

EDIT: Here we go: View attachment Ramesses II Stone Age Turn 0.CivBeyondSwordSave

Is this how you post a save? I know that I knew how, but have forgotten.

Looked at the map, and was very surprised to see very little actually changed. You made it seem like you changed a quarter of the map! When you get SVN, you will be glad to see we added about a quarter of your relative suggestions already. However, a lot of them I feel are unbalancing, or (mostly) an aesthetic eyesore. A separation of islands is not a call for a river. Grassland next to a desert also hurts my eyes. I also think a lot of regions you overestimate. I wouldn't call Morocco grasslands, nor would I say that most of the Sahara is roads.
I looked at all the changes and considered the ones that were not already a part of the thread. However I don't think any new aspect came out of it.

So again, I can't remember if I eloquently said this, look at what we have decided on, see what you like what you don't like and what we should change, and we'll argue it out until we die of heart attacks. Very informal and all.
