Master Map Change Thread

Well, that grassland (plus those floodplains up in Spain) might give you an opportunity to replace it with something more historical or goal oriented.
I think it's historical and goal oriented enough.

Iran before:

Iran after (that incense north of the sheep is a mistake):

Xinjiang after (there really should be food sources there, but the current system just gives it bizarre food on desert tiles when the Silk Road comes through):

Isfahan must be foundable. An oasis needed or the Isfahan tile should be plains.

Xinjiang: no flood plains, the goat is enough. There isn't any super city in the gobi dessert.

Maybe the gobi oasis should be plains, or change the oasis mechanic (build on oasis instead of by the oasis).

No cow needed in the thibet 2nd city. One food resource per city is enough.

Okay, that's a point, but what about tiles with plantation resources?

Maybe the irani hills should be grassed. This way iran won't be so food-poor. Alternatively, iran should get one or two more goats.

The grass in Maghreb is better. There is no need to change the Moorish UP, it has effect in the plains tiles which are more than the grass ones.

Flood plains in Spain: I think it is wrong. Spanish mainland is a too hilly country, there is no ability for flood plains, which require unhilled land (and dessert).

What I would do re: Spain instead of the floodplains is add the Guadalquivir River and a Wheat resource south of the Sheep. That makes the Moorish UHV somewhat easier and less random, and may allow a different UP for the Moors (not that the current UP is bad per se, but a permanent UHV might be more interesting).

I'm sad I missed this thread until now. Where do I see the current form of the updated map?

EDIT: never mind I see it. Holy cow this map is downright unsettling looking at it after seventeen pages worth of changes.

On the topic of gold in Colorado I have to jump to my home state's defense. the United States is the second largest gold producer in the world. While most of that today comes from Nevada, historically the California, Colorado, and Alaska gold rushes played major roles in the development of those states and it makes sense that each have a gold resource to represent it. It makes sense that a mod dedicated to the exploration of history should represent historically significant resources even if they are dwarfed by more modern exploitation today.

I made the public maps from the 1699AD save. However, the first two 3000BC and 600AD are imcomplete. I have also included a TODO file if anyone else wish to continue.
If you edit the map via worldbuilder it is vital to take control of the first civ in the list of the opening screen and open the WB as soon as possible.

I like most of suggestions here. I hope Leoreth will include them in faraway future.

Is this ever going to happen ?

I hope yes but now RFC: DOC has already many new errors and bugs. Leoreth is doing everything alone and adding more context in every update and it causes new bugs. DOC hasnt ever been this awsome but also never so bugged. I hope some day Leoreth simply doesnt fed up with this and disappear in depths of internet.

Side note: Royal, where are ya?

Wednesday I saw Toro Y Moi in concert and it was amazing.
Last monday I hiked the hunchback mountains and rediscovered I'm afraid of heights
when it comes to strong winds and tips of mountains.
I've applied for a job at the college newspaper.
I've been repairing gaming consoles for money.
I've been taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Arabic.
I'm working on my next short film entitled Strange Days
about circus freaks who kill their ringleader
and escape into Portland; but nobody notices
because Portland is weird (horror-comedy).
Today I'm going over to my friend's dorm
and I'm going to watch Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void and Little Miss Sunshine.
Recently I've been playing Roma Surrectum 2.6.
About a month ago I found out my girlfriend of two years had been cheating on me
for over a month.
Recently I've been sweet on a girl named Francesca,
her favorite band is the Talking Heads and she actually tried to tell
-me- Stanley Kubrick trivia.
I've been growing out my goatee since it's November.
Last night I visited Sean Faircloth at a college lecture about secularizing America
from fanatical legislature.
My wisdom teeth have been killing me.
My grandfather died about two months ago (on my father's side)
so I've been working out legal issues -- helping move out his stuff
It takes about an hour and a half to commute from my house to
the university.
Doing okay in most my classes.
My game Caesar III stopped working on my computer.

So... evidently lots of things.

I changed the city names, the spawning location of Khmer and split the core areas of Thailand and Khmer. Unfortunately, I can't fix the historical areas. The new TODO list is:
*Bonus management for 3000BC map and 600AD map.
*Improvement check and replacement.
*Spawning of cities.

SVN 615, but I think it is compatible in all versions.

Great job, but why late spawning resources, such as tobacco near Istanbul or corn near Bordeaux, are available in 600 AD and 3000 BC ?

EDIT: Stupid me, they are in TODO list

Portugal has no iron until it starts colonizing. Before then, the only real land units it can build are trebuchets and horse archers.

Portugal also settles Ponta Delgada in every game. Being a single island, it takes 20+ turns for the city to build anything.

Thus, the logical solution is to put iron on Ponta Delgada. Perhaps not very realistic, but gameplay > realism.
