How about this as a compromise?

Semidesert is an overlay over desert - nothing different but graphics
The SoI graphics are used for it on blue marble (because they already match the blue marble graphics)
the regular desert are used when blue marble is not used (in other words, it is invisible)

That way, you don't have to worry about blending it with default terrain.

This should be pretty easy, and not impact gameplay.

It's a shame that nobody else sees the value in my ideas. But, then again, it's their loss.

I haven't made a modcomp because I can't mod. (Or more accurately, I'm almost done with SoI expanded, it was very hard, I needed help from other people many times, and I hated modding so I'm never doing it again. But, on the plus side, It's almost done, and I really like the way it's come out. It should be released within the next couple days. Link is in my signature.)

Who do you expect to give this reason and why would it matter?
 
Or if does not help. Remember Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. And I gave a reason for why it will hurt DoC. Lost time is lost progress.

At some times there is something you may want that is a lost cause unless you wish to do it yourself.

I've heard that it's a piece of cake as everything you need is already in SoI.

I must admit I find this ardent desire for semideserts somewhat laughable.

That is just downright terrible game design right there. The only reason to add something in a mod is if it will be extremely meaningful to the purpose of the mod/beneficial to game balance, which semidesert is neither.

In terms of game design, there is not enough desert represented in DoC to make semidesert worthwhile (unlike in SoI which DoC is NOT a copy of on a global scale), so it is not worth it for the mod.

Secondly, semidesert would mess up the game balance, assuming it allowed regular movement. Desert restricting movement is crucial because it is much more realistic and removes a strange strength for horse units in desert and makes Camel Archers and such much more realistic. The tile Cape was only added for the sake of game balance, and this is not.

In conclusion, Semidesert accomplishes NOTHING useful for DoC and thus I urge all of you senators to negate this piece of legislation(sorry, I went to a Model Congress tournament all day) everyone to drop the semidesert discussion as it is futile and pointless. Ergo, I am assuming that Leoreth mostly agrees with me here.
