Large Earth map, Prince level. Epic.

I own the South america, 8 well established cities.
Monti owns North America 20 cities, many small ones in tundra, mountains etc.

His army is 3x, but I own Panama region and plan to defend there, since no doubts he will attack me soon. My pan is to whip a GG and have a citadel in Panama and just use ranged to kill him as he moves in.

No, you're not doomed. The AI is pretty dumb when it comes to tactics. As long as he doesn't out number you and out tech you at the same time, its not a bigdeal.

also you know where the oil is, the middle east. Settle in great spots, if you can

Well, it turns out as big as South America is, I got only 2 iron and 1 horses. Out of those only 1 iron was in a good place, the rest was hard to get to. We'll see how coal/aluminium/oil plays out.

Sooo, this is kind of disappointing.

I managed to conquer North America with 3 riflemen, 2 Cossacks and 2 Artillery. Those were split into 2 armies. He had 30 cities and ALL OF HIS TERRITORY was worked for GOLD. He had like 5 riflemen and 50 workers. This is a real WTH, I'll be waiting for patch I guess.

BTW, is Monty act the same way on Civ V Earth as he does on Civ IV Earth.

AI monte is a nutty coward horrible at empire management. At first he advances militarily quickly and sabre-rattles/bullys at people near him, but it's very easy to put him in the diplomatic status "afraid" and past 1400AD he's never worth a crap. Most annoying thing is usually his expansion rate and then the few turns wait on razing each of his cities.

If you play against him on emperor or higher he "can" get dangerous if you let him expand unchecked and he has access to most of the luxury types. If you play him as your civ, it's kinda a fun challenge.

Yeah, i've seen monty repeatedly get his butt handed to him. Wu Zetian seems to always end up with his. . . family jewels. heh. Also watched her thollop bismark and elizabeth the other day.

I never thought I'd say this. . . but I miss Shaka and old monty. :(

I just watched him lose about 6 units to just a city state with no units. That was pretty entertaining

Yeah I noticed Wu was the only one that seemed able to consistently crush other civs/city states. Wierd, given that she does this even in ages without her UU, so it must be her +4 gold from every city.

Bismark is aggressive, builds a lot of warriers and archers, and then gets crushed by unit upkeep and falls behind in tech. Later, he gets crushed by any civ around him. I think is true of a lot of the aggressive civs.

I had an interesting thing happen in my game today (Egypt, King). Germany declares war against me, but he's next to two city states I've bought out for their culture. They run in a mass of archers and spearmen and absolutely destroy all of Germany's warriers, spearmen, and archers, and then started attacking Berlin! For like 15 turns, Berlin was at 1 HP and slowly killed off a couple of my city state ally's units. Finally, I was able to send a spearmen to collect my free city, after England declared war on Bismark and I was afraid of her taking the city.
