I've been playing the demo a couple of times of the Chieftain level and each time around turn 80ish / 90ish (400 BC) some civilization is making it to the Medieval era.

Is anybody getting this? For me, I think that the Medieval period popping around 400AD give or take for an average AI...

On prince the age times were pretty accurate. (save for me getting to medieval in like 1000 BC because i built the Great Library and took Civil Service)

I am playing the full game, and:

(1) tech progression fast pasted (my first game was on chieftan and teching was really fast, on prince still fast I can get to medieval before 0BC)
(2) I find that with the tech progression going this fast, I will skip building some units
(3) Production seems slowed down (not yield tiles, but cost of production); takes me forever to build stuff (at least perception)

Other than that, game is very good (well, I really dislike city screen and citizen management).

It does seem like production doesn't scale correctly with unit costs. Is there any way to get more than 3 hammers off a tile (aside from Manufactory which burns a Great Engineer)?

I guess Iroquois with a lumbermill on a forested hill.
