Server resource conservation? It sure was handy. :/
It has been disabled for the time being in order to lighten the load on the server. Considering we are seeing a record number of visitors, it's best to remove a small feature like this in order to keep the forum readable to all.

We still have a lot higher number of browsing members than in the pre-civ 5 days. Right now 1838. Switching it back on might be premature.

I don't know if the mods would be able to answer this, but I would imagine Thunderfall could: Is it possible to turn it on for certain fora or subfora? I'd imagine it's either all or nothing.
