Hi Zappa and friends,

RoM is definitely the best mod ever !!!:goodjob::goodjob::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

But i still have problem with this Memory Allocation Failure, even if I change my computer.

My CivIV config is with BTS and patch 3.19, and RoM 2.8 + Patch 2.81

My computer is a Samsung R720 Core Duo T6400 2GHz, RAM 4 Go, system 32 bits, Graphic Card : Radeon HD 4650 (1 Go GDDR3) ; with OS : Vista 32 bits

My last save in 1595 AD, is 2 Mo (quite heavy ;)) and still crash because of MAF

Does someone has any advice to solve my MAF problem (like others), and even if someone got the ideal config to play without MAF errors can he/she post it below?

A step to step explanation is needed if there is a lot of file manipulation required

I know, a lot of people already ask for the same problem, but i do not find yet the solution on other threads...

Any help is welcome...;)

Are you getting a MAF when you're trying to load a game whilst another is loaded? If so, this is likely to happen whenever your saves are more than 1 Mb or so.

Random MAF crashes are generally just that - random - but can be reduced by playing smaller maps, shorter games and with lesser graphics.

Getting an instant MAF when you load a save the first time each reboot of Civ IV? Then you're likely buggered :(

Hi Arakhor...

I do have this MAF also if i try to load a savegame during a game, but that's managed, if i wish to load a game i quit the game and come again... or i just continue the game, to borring to wait for the loading :)...

The computer is not bugged, it's just to a way to manage the RAM i think (if it is possible). I already tryed the "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072" command, seen in an other thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=189637)... but still got the MAF when during AIs turn. Savegame is on an other computer next time i will attached it.

... I'm still looking for a solution before acting as JosePH II
I have since built a new comp with win XP Pro 64bit OS, Dual Core 2.8gig CPU and dual Bios Mobo with 8 gigs of DDR2 1066 ram and a Vid card, Sapphire HD 4650 with 512 ddr3 ram, and I don't have those old restrictions.

COD4 is working so well and for BTS-RoM I will need new config  and i play with low res

I finaly find the solution for windows vista 32

The MAF error was solved with this post : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=8816944

1.-Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.

2.-At the command prompt, enter "BCDEDIT.EXE /Set IncreaseUserVa 3072" without the "". You MUST write BCDEDIT.EXE; you NEED the .EXE, that's the key.

3.-Restart the computer.

Since I have no more of MAF error ;), and i still play with low res (my last save was more than 3GB)

But still i have to wait between 5~7 minutes between each turn...

As I see in other recent post it seems that the best solution to play fluently with RoM is a 64 bits OS... and sometimes more than 4GB RAM.

Best and see ya... i will definitely upgrade my computer :D
