Good Evening,

I have noticed that when I run Civ 5 it takes 650M of memory. Its CPU usuage is just as bad (23% when it is my turn and 48% when it is the AI)

Running Win7 on an AMD II 215 with 4 Gig of memory and an GeForce X515 with 2 Gig memory. Should be more than enough, but I cannot even scroll to other processes running like IE or Winamp when it is the computers turn.

Anybody found any setting to help this?

smaller maps, less AI players

I think you have problem with ALT-TAB, am I right? Try to disable "fullscreen" in graphics options.

Also, if its the AI time your concerned about, be in strategic mode when you exit the turn; sometimes a significant amount of the time spent is actually graphically moving the units that came within visibility of you or your city state allies.

I wonder if there is a way to tweak performance a bit via e.g. config files?
I mean performance really improved a lot since initial release, but there is still a lot of room for improvment. Late game still puts a bit of a strain on my system which is far from weak.

I found that running Direct 9 instead of 10 helped on my PC version of the game. Got that tip here.

The first year i had the game it kept crashing on standard maps or larger after awhile. Basically the game was broken and it took a year or more for them to fix it.
Now it works fine.

DX10/11 is way faster for me btw. DX9 makes turns take forever, and uses more CPU while calculating them.

It's said bunches of times, but keep your graphics drivers up to date. Civ 5 seems to have a big dependency on that. My Nvidia graphics just triggered an update. The notice mentioned Civ 5 specifically for a couple of board types. It claimed 7% improvement. I think I see an incremental improvement on my system, but that may be wishful self-deception. Still, I'll take that.
