Menus not showing

Hi

I've got civ 4 and beyond the sword. I'm running vista home premium 64bit and BTS patch 3.03. Everything is fine except that I cannot see any menus. I can click where the text should be - and it moves onto the next set of invisible menues - so I can play the game - but I cannot set up anything complex or change my vid settings because I can't find the text.

Does any-one know what's happening and how I could fix it?

EDIT: Just noticed that my display drivers were ancient - updated them and all was fine
