Hey, in Egypt Christmas is in January 6th as well. I think it's part of Coptic/Orthodox Christianity, no?

All the Christians used to celebrate it on January 6. So some of them just kept doing it until this very day :)

The Chronography of 354 AD contains early evidence of the celebration on December 25 of a Christian liturgical feast of the birth of Jesus. This was in Rome, while in Eastern Christianity the birth of Jesus was already celebrated in connection with the Epiphany on January 6.[39][40] The December 25 celebration was imported into the East later: in Antioch by John Chrysostom towards the end of the 4th century,[40] probably in 388, and in Alexandria only in the following century.[41] Even in the West, the January 6 celebration of the nativity of Jesus seems to have continued until after 380.

I don't think it really matters when Christmas is celebrated, because the purpose of the day is still the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Celebrating winter solstice? Copying the Romans' Saturnalias? Showing Judaism the middle finger?

I celebrate it because I get presents and free food, and somehow nobody in my vicinity is willing to celebrate Hanukkah instead, which would give me more presents and free food over the course of over a week rather than just a single day.

Merry Marxmas:D

Speaking of Marx, I got a Lenin book as a present =3. Also got Atlas Shrugged, Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep?, The Prince, I,Claudius, Heart of Darkness, the Disaster Artist, and the Selfish Gene.

I got some books and stuff, but I also got some Byzantine coins from the late 1200s/early 1300s, which I think are pretty nifty. Then again, my older brother got a new iPhone...

Congratulations on getting a couple of good books and something to throw at people you don't like!

(This reminds me that I still want to read Das Kapital ...)
