I think Cimfindriel can't respond, because he's with his family right now. He told us (the diplo-gamers) that due to illness in his family, he can't post/reply anything on the forum for a while so you have to excuse him for now. The Reign of PinkyGen the Undead. (That's right)
The kingdom was in chaos. With the death of King Shadowdale, the armies stalled at the frontier, and the Senate fell into disarray. The intended successor, Cimfindriel had been abducted by the empires enemies. England was crumbling.
But then, dark clouds covered the world. Storms erupted everywhere, scaring cattle and freezing armies in fear. Earthquakes rocked the land. After forty days, the mighty capital London was rocked by the fearsome lightning storm recorded. Spectators were not surprised to spot a thunderbolt hit the Pyramids, but were amazed that after each successive strike, the ancient buildings began to glow. Suddenly, a figure appeared at the apex of the tomb. The one man, his voice was heard throughout the entire capital.
Here me, my English people. I, PinkyGen the Warrior, have returned, to lead England to victory. For 150 years shall I lead you.
The Undead PinkyGen quickly took over. Surveying the scene, he was pleased with the large amount of money in the treasury. He knew that the small amount of luxuries would keep his people in line. But the science was zero, and this deeply disturbed him. For though old, he knew the value of the new. PinkyGen chose to continue the current levels of funding, and quickly win the wars against the weak Persians and the weak willed Egyptians.
He also orders constructions of new settlers, to build roads and irrigate the land.
1120: Persians change to Republic. PinkyGen smiles, knowing they cannot control the Senate like HE can.
1130: The Egyptians, fearing what has been unleashed upon the earth, request to meet. PinkyGen smiles at the ambassador. At first the ambassador is relieved, then notices that the Undead Consuls eyes are glowing. He sees a brief flash of light, and that is all. The Senate, still in awe over recent events, passes a resolution of support. The Egyptians move a catapult near Memphis. Diplomat discovers gold for the Republic. The enemy catapult is killed, as well as an elephant near newly discovered city of Byblos. PinkyGen had ordered the training of new crusaders, and they proved to be most useful for his most holy of causes.
1150: A Persian elephant defects near Hladir (for some reason diplomat unable to incite a revolt?). The elephant (the defected and one of our own) then storm take city. A nearby Persian catapult is destroyed. Explorers discover the Celtic mainland on an island directly to west of us. Heliopas captured by crusaders and legions. PinkyGen, using unknown powers, arrives at the scene to commend the men. Zulu discovered on an island far east of East Lenin.
1160: Zulu change government to monarchy. Elephants exploring an elephant near discover an advanced tribe on an island west of shadowdale. Tribe renamed Pink Floyd. PinkyGen had brought the nice CD with the picture of rainbows, Pyramids, and triangles, and it had reminded him of his own rebirth. The tribe has a temple, library, and granary (granary sold because of Pyramids.) Worthless Egyptians and Persians cry for pity, more smoke filled shoes of their messengers are returned. Senate supports my actions.
1170: Barbarian infidels land between PinkyGen and Cimfindriel. Defenses in the area are weak. Sheep-hugging Celtic forces sneak attack, sink a caravel. PinkyGen grumbles how they cannot be trusted, remembering how his holy city was once defiled by their presence.
Settlers flee from barbarians. Desperately weak crusaders, but filled with PinkyGens spirit, defeat Egyptians at Byblos.
Diplomat incites revolt in Allman Brothers, city returned to English rule. It has two settlers, so one rejoins the city quickly. Diplomat incites revolt in Antioch.
1180: For some, possible demonic, reason, Egyptians keep rebuilding in Byblos real fast. Crusaders again win, but are now very weak, new crusaders are ordered in a nearby city. Diplomats extort 100 gold out of foolish natives. Cimfindriel holds against barbs, rushes crusaders. Celtic chariot discovered near Pink Floyd and destroyed by elephants that found the tribe. PinkyGen hopes Pink Floyd is not an island with Celtic cities. Perhaps they should build WALL.
(Actually, they are building a phalanx)
1190: Byblos is finally taken by the famed crusaders, who are restored to health. Egyptian mainland is now part of the Republic. PinkyGen transports back to his palace, where the people cry out his name with awe and admiration. He meets with Zulus, they seemed very angry for not getting invention. PinkyGen refrains from burning their messenger alive. They expelled a diplomat expelled, but no war.
1200: With the wars against the Persians and the Egyptians, and the Celts doing nothing going so well, PinkyGen submits a new budget. The tax rate is now 30%, luxuries 20%, and science is 50%. Scientists now estimate new discoveries every eight turns. We still collect 113 gold vs. every 49 for maintence. A mix of defensive phalanxes and a crusader destroy barbarians threatening the holy city of PinkyGen. The people are so pleased with the war against the Egyptians and the Persians that PinkyGens thrown room is updated. His most undead ruler now has a nice desk. Nottingham commences work on Leos workshop, as PinkyGen knows the new technology will soon require major upgrades to the army. The Persians try launching a counterattack, but merely give a legion some combat experience.
1210: The Persian city of Tarsus was bribed. All citizens are naturally unhappy, provoking great wonder amongst PinkyGen and his advisors. Perhaps the empire is too large for the Republic form of government?
1220: No events
1230: GLORY FOR THE ENGLISH EMPIRE. The elephants storm the Persian city of Gordium, destroying the Persian Empire. PinkyGen evilly laughs as their pitiful leader is executed in the Tower of London.
1240: An English Caravel destroys Celtic Caravel with diplomat off the coast of Shadowdale. A German Catapult appears near Susa, Crusaders are sent to investigate.
The Egyptian city of Giza revolts (with our help for around 200 gold). In just twenty years, two empires are destroyed. The undead PinkyGen smiles at the adoration of the people. Ramseess corpse soon joins the Persian leaders, whose name is so quickly forgotten that no Englishman can remember.
1250: In a tense session with a German emissary, we are told to be on our guard. The Germans also criticize us for betraying the Celts, when the Celts sneak attacked us! PinkyGen does not kill the messenger, but makes his displeasure known. Crusaders arrive in Susa, as well as diplomat.
1260: Mongols and Zulus declare war on each other. PinkyGen delights in knowing at least two empires will not be fighting him. Also, as expected, the treacherous Germans sneak attack Susa, destroying the local phalanx. Crusaders counter-attack, phalanx destroyed.
1270: Gunpowder is discovered by English wise men. As soon as Leos is built, we will have an excellent defense against the new enemies, the Celts and the Germans. An apple falls on PinkyGens head. Not even his vast knowledge of military tactics and undead ruling can explain this simple fact, so research is reoriented towards Physics. Finally, York builds Adams Smith. The English soon become obsessed with this concept of capitalism. The budget is reoriented to 1 tax, 2 luxuries, and 70 science. We still gain nearly 50 gold per turn, as the support cost for maintenance is now 8 gold. Discoveries are now every five turns.
But alas, the 150 years are over, and PinkyGen knows the English must learn to survive without him. The English are very sad to see their great conqueror leave. But on a fateful day, the undead PinkyGen reenters his tomb in the Pyramids. A year of mourning is declared throughout the Republic. Yet e may return again.
Final Thoughts: Curse those Germans and Celts. I wanted peace after this campaign was done so we could get a lot of infrastructure and technology. So far, I have not taken the offensive against them. My successor will have to decide whether to fight a defensive war and concentrate on building a technology, or once again a fiscally and scientifically draining war. I preferred the former. Out of the two, the Germans seem more intent in invading the newly taken Persian lands.
There is also some unhappiness problems. I think we have exceeded the maximum republic limit by far, so we are getting extra unhappy citizens. We should be able to research democracy (I wasnt given the option, but we have the necessary techs.) With democracy, we get more money and more tech. But this limits us to defensive war. On the other hand, we could then build the statue, go fundamentalist, and try that. But so far we are not that far ahead in techs, though we do have the Great library, so we cannot fall behind.

Hi PinkyGen - I'm really glad to know that the Wars I started have been successfully completed by you!!!
And even if you didn't see my mail to Cimfindriel you did more or less what I suggested that he should do - Build some more diplomats and a few good unites and the Egyptian and Persian empires are toat!!!
And I vote for Democracy!!! Not Fundy - we don't need that and Demo is better for the tech advance that we need.....
