Mid-game builder strategies?

I'm still playing the same game as in this topic.

I took out my neighbor with a carefully executed axe rush and got the whole continent to myself. I was behind in tech for a little while but caught up fairly quickly and was able to build a lot of wonders. But I'm reminded of some common (probably newb) dilemmas I always face. Mainly, losing focus in the medieval era and afterward and avoiding techs that obsolete my wonders.

I'm currently at the point where I can build the Statue of Liberty, I muddled through by chasing wonders and engaging in tech races (music, lib, econ) and stayed ahead by tech trading and a few great merchants. But I'm stymied by the Corporation and Scientific Method, which are going to obsolete the Parthenon and TGL, setting me back, but I don't want to unduly delay teching them.

What should my strategy be at this point? I'm guessing that Space Race is going to be the way to win here. Not what I wanted, but the obvious victory, I think. What should my tech and city specialization strategy be? And how can I recover from the Great Lighthouse going obsolete the quickest? Thanks! (Sorry for the lack of screenshots, I haven't figured out how to take them yet as I'm playing the Windows version on a Mac with Wine).

You are very well set up here for any win you want and Diplo looks like a strong one with the right moves. However, I see several perplexing things here:

1) Sore lack of workers. You do have some cities well improved, but the question is how long did it take to get them there. The western cities should have been improved long ago and chain irrigated.

2) If you are thinking late game, less war, get Oxford up asap. Whip those Unis. This all should have been done centuries ago.

3) You do realize Pacifism is doing you absolutely nothing but costing you money. I don't know, maybe you were in a religion at one point, but you are not now and for some reason not in Free Religion. (FR would also boost diplo with Asoka)

4) Why no Forge in Amsterdam. No reason for that unless an event took it, but I would whip it right back in.

Corp is a net loss of 1 trade route. 0 in cities with Custom House. GLH is about the early boost that put you in the position you are in now (and it could even be far better than this). Same with Parth. You want those fast GPs early to push your way up to Lib or whatever strategy you are going for. At this point, they are less valuable except for GMs for trade missiosn, golden ages, and a GE here or there for production. So, the point is, I would not be concerned about GLH and Parth now.

You could try your hand at diplo. Beeline Mass Media after Corp. Save the GE for UN. Adopt FR to improve tech and start diplo boost with Asoka for one friend. Fred looks like your target. Give into demands/requests with those you want to vote for you - namely all that are not Fred. Shaka may be harder to please at this point, but Asoka/Hammy/Joao should be enough. You might drop to HR for Joao. Hammy is a lock it appears, but in a golden age you could try switching Fred out of Bureau.

Make sure you are trading as many resources as possible with all targeted Friends to get to +2 that way, as long as it doesn't nerf you.

Space and War are certainly options too.

I would check your resource trades. You are missing out on beneficial stuff there. I'm rather perplex at the negative 41 gpt trade with Asoka. I see no reason to do this for what you are getting. Copper alone will get you his remaining resources. I only do something like that if I absolutely have to get a strat resource online.

Teching replacable parts, steampower(dikes), railroads before corporation and then assembly line before scientific method is fine for a conquest/domination or spacerace win.

You can also use the engineer for mining inc. You should get the statue anyway, since no-one has even printing press.

You need more workers to complete irragation chains (delft, the hague) and to convert mines to windmills (delft, nijmegen) because you don't have the food to work mines there.

You might want to keep your merchant for a golden age, wich you will able to get with another GP from Yadroshapura in 9 turns, if you hire 7 non-merchants there. You aren't getting much out of caste or representation at the moment, and nothing out of pacifism.
