Have you tried this idea? Does it work in practice like this? I like the theory.

I tried it once, it made the game crash. But this is waaaay back, 1.17f I think. And It was not infrequent for the game to crash. I hope it works now.

Just thought I'd offer an idea for the spaceship...

Make the spaceship a ship to the undying lands, like the one Earendil (spelling?) built. Parts can be the hull, mast, sail, etc. First one to Valinor wins!

This might be a little unrealistic, but I think some of Tolkiens original drafts of the Silmarillion involved a man visiting Valinor and chatting with the elves, and in some book (probably the Silmarillion) Tolkien mentioned that many mariners found the lands and visited it, only to die soon after.

Realisitic or not, a ship might be a good alternative to the space race. Maybe then elves could have a head start on it?

I agree. But it would be strange if Sauron built a ship and sailed to Valinor to have a chat with his old friends.

Actually, it was in the Lost Tales of Elfinesse tome 2. And, sure the Vanyar up in Valinor would find it strange to see Thû coming to say "hello"… But what JRR Tolkien wrote was that many elves died trying to get there, not getting there. The only reason why Ëarendel went to Aman successfuly is that he had a Silmaril. If he hadn't, his ship would have sinked in the Enchanted Islands.

Thus, having one of the three Silmaril (might be a ressource?) would be a prerequisite for the building of the ship, as would be Nan-Tathren willows.

Sorry for the late replies everyone, I had a hectic weekend and probably the next few days, seems like I had fifty highschool graduations to go to (ok, more like three) and each around 7 hours with the afterwards 'party' thus I will be busy the next couple of days. I would have to upload it to give to Celeborn, so I will just upload it here. But trust me GEChallenger, it's not what you think it is. It's simply what Celeborn will post in the beginning of his thread. Not only that it's bogged down with codes, you may as well just wait for the new thread.

Ummm... right. About the ring. You should have a ring unit and use the new "reverse capture the flag" in c3c. Put up the VP it gives and you can have the Shire win a victory point game.

ummm shouldnt lord of the nazgul be referred to as Er merzaor (Sp) and for a dwarven city you can have, The Lonely Mountain, and of course Minas Tirith should be Gondor capital.
