Mind, Body & Soul PBEM

Giving that kind of power to Soul is dangerous, because he will out-Jive us all. But it's much more fun this way, so go right ahead :)
you were all warned

keep naming to a standard. preferably an easy to understand one.

please DON'T CHANGE CITY NAMES.
pick a name, any name and stick to it.
you'll understand when peace talks begin...

So renaming units is forbidden?

How 'bout adding a code to my own units so I can remember what I wanted them for?

Example. Instead of "Spearman", "London Garrison" or "London Spearman" or something else.

As for me, I don't care if you rename any units. Cities, on the other hand should remain with one name.

GPS praetorian!!!!
i have PM'd it.
please post your email - or just send it tome for easier access, will you?

edit - also sent it to the communal email...

now that we have all had a peek at the layout i feel confident enough to ask if anyone here knows a good plumber?

not so.
just keep a system.
names like bob's your uncle or willy wonka #1 are bad.
londons spear, london garrison, yorks mounties are OK, as i can guess what the are.

f
eel free!

quite important!!!
any name goes - even BOBs YOUR UNCLE just keep it!

Ok. Cool with me. I generally name as "City Garrison" defensive units for that city.

Unit renaming is OK, I don't mind it, I'll read the stats anyways. Just not to another unit's name though ... a knight named Medieval Infantry is BAAAAAAD ;)

And yeah, city renaming is a huge :nono:, but first-time naming is free-for-all

Hey,

As Flounder said in NL's Animal House "This is going to be Great!"

So no go on this?

Blaze, and everyone -

just to clarify the entire naming thing.

rules for names
1- city names.
when built you may name the towns ANY NAME YOU WANT.
you MAY NOT change that name later.

2- unit names
generic names are ok.
ASLONG AS THEY ARE CLEALRY LABELED.
examples of a valid type:
Yorktown SPears 1,<numbers are fine, and you can use these freely>
Soul's Riders (h), <h> is to denote HORSEMEN. change it to K when its upgraded.
default civ names, etc. - no change is good for all involved.

examples of BAD NAMES :nono:
soul's marauders - no details at all, unless you look at the stats. im usually too lazy for that...
misleading thorough a wrong name that will hide an attribute such as changing a knight's name to Medieval Infantry - given by BEF, this is beyond evil.
edit -
and DO NOT, EVER, change a units name drastically.
e.g. - souls riders H to souls riders K is ok.
souls riders to mambojive unit killer is NOT OK.

basic rule is:
keep those names constant.
keep them clear.
DONT make them misleading.

I never imagined such formalisms were required in a MP game.

I never imagined such formalisms were required in a MP game.
Neither would I have before I joined the first Multi Team Demo Game (MTDG), there's a sub-forum you can go look up; basically, there's a rule chart of several pages with people lawyer'ing (I won't call it arguing, nor debating) what tweaks should be done to the text of the rules so that no one abuses of them more than they could.

Some rules are required, especially in renamings (here is the line we have to draw between harmless misleading fun and fairness), but I'm confident we don't need a bigger code of laws.

Well... looks like I'll have to wait 'till tomorrow.

Good night lads.
