Props to Minnesota! But there's still a lot of work to be done in the US as a whole. Now what to do about our stagnant improvement...

Gasp! People actually taking care of themselves without "help" from the government! How did that happen?

I bet that number (of those without it) could be lowered if the government helped provide for it.

I haven't done the research on Louisiana, but Mississippi has half as many residents as Minnesota yet has twice as many people receiving welfare benefits.

Maybe I am the only one that noticed but it seems that Northern states are placed in the top and Southern states in the bottom. Reasons? Or pure staggering coincidence?

Yes, but they both have socialized medicine? This is the first I've heard of it.

Is it also a coincidence that "blue" states tend to be ranked higher than "red" states? :scan:

It did say that Illinois is the most improved the year after Rod Blagojevich instituted the All Kids program which provides every child in Illinois with health insurance.

Is it also a coincidence that whiter states generally tend to be ranked higher than others? :mischief:

The Pacific Northwest seems to be a better region of the US, I've heard it's more "European."

No, I just like European culture more the US culture. If I had to live in the US my entire life, that's where I would choose.

    Trust me...it ain't.

The part of Oregon I live in has pudgy loggers waving Confederate Battle flags and listening to Toby Keith.

If I was living in the South I would be out running more than up here. It's gotten a little chilly lately.

Why do they waive Confederate flags? They do that in Illinois as well. Makes no sense.

Eh... same here. Problem is our definitions of "chilly" are probably off by a bit.
