A lot of people here are probably too young to remember this but once upon a time the massive scoreboard above centre ice at the NHL arena in Buffalo fell to the ice - thank God the building was not in use at the time.

This kind of reminds me of that.

    Not really... :p

I was hoping the Tiger's would trade for a couple of their players, though.

I think Olympic Stadium in Montreal had a piece of the roof fall too.

Video of collapse. Notice the Gator booking towards the tunnel just before it comes down.

I've been in there a few times. This is the 4th time the roof has torn during a snow storm. The entire stadium is pressurized, which inflates the fabric roof. There should be minimal structural damage, just need to clean up, repair the rips and re-inflate. I doubt it'll be ready for the Viking's last home game next week, they'll probably play at the U of Minn field. They talked about playing there this week but it wouldn't be ready in time.

It's not the first time heavy snows have brought down the roof.

It'd be cool to see the game happen in TCF bank stadium.

I'm not looking forward to going to work tomorrow...

Whose bright idea was it to build a dome stadium in an area that frequently experiences heavy snowfall

Still cheaper then alternative systems if you want a closed roof.

Reminds me also of the Hartford Civic Center. Where the stadium roof, a steel roof, but poorly designed, collapsed under the weight of snow. A few hours after a college basketball game ended where the place had over 10,000 people in it.
