Minor Magics outside of the typical list

So, lets, for the sake of this thread, make three assumptions

1- make a distinction between three caster types:
-summoners,
-sorcerors,
-priests
2- fairly weak casters (adept/acolyte) level.
3- caster only casts one type of mana magic (for summoners, sorcerers) and for priests casting is limited to god's sphere of influence

What sort of magic would a summoner who specialized in non-conventional summoning mana cast? spirit cast? Dimensional summoners? What is a fairly weak dimensional summon? What is a fairly weak law summon? Mind summon?

What role does magic, especially divine and summoning, have outside of combat? Its easy enough to imagine a minor water or nature summoner conjuring dolphins that could help herd fish towards a nation's nets and fishtraps or an earth summoner getting small earth sprites to help find new veins of ore or even help build new mines. You coudl summon a minor wind spirit to help propel your trade ships (and not just your combat ships), but what about dimensional, death, spirit, life, summons, and sorcerors? can you think of magic outside of combat that they could cast.

What divine magic does a priest of Nuentaselta command outside of combat? A priest of Succellos? Ceridwen?

Thanks for any ideas.

Oh yeah, and i am asking about this to help flesh out my NES, in case you are wondering (see signature)

Dimensional would have no summons, and all summons. The act of summoning itself is in the dimensional sphere, but the dimensional sphere doesn't really have its own plane. Ceridwen's vault consists entirely of the connections between other vaults, with islands of other planes stuck in between.

I believe it was implied a while back (in what may no longer be canonical) that there spheres of spirit, body, mind, and a couple more that have more to do with the human psyche than the physical world do not have plane from which creatures can be summoned. I think these spheres do not elemental planes from which elementals could be summoned, but the vaults of the gods of there spheres would still be inhabited by angels and demons, including those created as such and former mortals.

The weakest summons of most spheres would probably be mortal souls that are in the process of becoming angels or demons. These would often be imps who are tasked with answering summons and performing tasks as part of their training in Aeron's vault.

Some spheres are better suited for war and others for peace.

Dimensional magic is really about creating unnatural, obsessive connections between people and things. It would be important in maintaining power in any relationship.

There aren't a whole lot of non-military uses of death magic, apart from a sorcerer maintaining his own "life."

Spirit mana would normally be used out of combat. It is about comforting the hurting, and inspiring people towards doing pretty much any action. It is the sphere of altruism, and has had to take over much of the role of the spheres of peace and hope after their gods fell.

Life isn't really all that concerned with combat either. It is the sphere of powerful healing and restoration. Healing diseases and even relationships would be as important as healing battle wounds.

Most summons probably are more combat related, but I'm sure some minor demons have been summoned to do more mundane chores. This is probably not a wise move though. Sorcery would have many more peaceful uses.

Nantosuelta is about enhancing the inherent virtues of man and things. Priests of Nantosuelta would mostly focus on trying to help their followers come to know their true self and acting in the way they consider right without regard for the expectations of others.

The Priests of Sucellus are Druids. You know the spells they have in the game. While they still seem associated with his old sphere, they also are concerned with healing.

We don't know a whole lot about the priests of Ceridwen, but I get the impression that Ceridwen taught the Emrys arcane magic rather than doing miracles for them herself. She seems to like having mortals claim for themselves powers that were only meant for the gods.

A quick question the spirit mana based summons and spells.
Laroth took a different approach to spirit magic.
Whats the deal with that? Does a spirit mage have light or dark side to choose?

i.

I tend to think that while any sphere would would tend to influence the users personality to be more like that of the god of said sphere, it does not make one good or evil. No sphere is in and of itself good or evil. It may be harder for someone to use Agagres sphere in its uncorrupted form, but not impossible. Likewise, it is quite possible for an evil man to twist a generally good sphere towards nefarious purposes. Laroth was able to direct all altruistic behavior towards helping him at the expense of ones own interests, even when he didn't at all deserve it, and also able to deprive his victims of the spirit mana their own souls would need to comfort themselves.

Wasn't infusing an item with souls to power its magic also one of his tricks? And how the Netherblade works by extension?

Yes. He is also skilled as summoning souls to him, and of binding souls to a specific vault.

As it's implemented in the game, Life magic seems to be related to moving people between the worlds of the dead and the living in a proper way, as opposed to the improper way that Death magic does. It can move the undead to the world of the dead (Sanctify on ruins and Destroy Undead) and call dead people who want to return back into the world (Sanctify on a graveyard and Resurrection).
