Missing images, that show up as black boxes?

When entering early industrial era or early, some images, including images for technologies, images for great works, images for antiquity sites are surrounded by block boxes with red streaks, almost as if it is a graphical glitch, instead of showing the appropriate image. Can someone help me understand why sometimes it unplayable because of the amount of missing images on the screen?

I'm running into the same issues as well. Random images will either become black boxes (covering it up and can't see what it is) or black and red blobs. I had no issues with this on regular Civ 5, but once I installed BNM it happens pretty frequently. I have the latest patch and it's a clean install. I even reinstalled it twice to see there was a corrupt file somewhere. Pretty frustrating when you can't see certain icons like unit upgrades and whatnot.

I'll attach the dxdiag when I get back home. But before I left for work, I made sure my dx 11 was up to date and the video card is up to date as well. No issues with my computer (AMD quad core + 7970m) and no overheating. I played a super long game of civ 5 without any issues until I installed BNM.
