I just installed Civilization 4 on my PC. When I first started the game it came up with compatibility message in Vista. I told it to run the game and it came up fine. I had full text on the opening menus and went into the options menu and had the game check for updates. It updated to the 1.74 update from the 1.00 version that was initially installed. After the game restarted I had no text on the opening menus. The arrows on either side of where the text should be is there but the text is gone. I have installed the Direct X 9.0 June 2007 files from Microsoft's website. I am running the 163.11 Beta Forceware drivers from Nvidia's website and my system is as follows:
Athlon FX-53
Asus SK8V
2GB PC3200 Registered ECC Ram
BFG 7800GS OC 256MB
WD 74GB Raptor
BenQ DW-1640 DVD Burner
Koolance PC2-601 Water Cooled Case
Antec Trio 550W
Samsung 225BW
X-Fi Extreme Music
Klipsch 4.1
Razer Pro Solutions V1.6
Windows Vista: Ultimate
Has anyone else run into this problem? I am looking for a fix. It is weird that the text was there on the 1.00 version but the update hosed the menus.
