Pleasantly surprised. The forty-ninth episode of ModCast is now netcasting. Entitled "Spectacularly Unexpected" with a runtime of 51m56s, it features regular co-host Mark "Hambil" Ford with first-time guest co-host Scott "AlphaShard" Dirk with returning guest co-hosts Derek "Kael" Paxton and "Putmalk".

The summary of topics is as follows:

- 03m46s | Miscellaneous
What more the panelists have learned about Civilization V since the release of its second expansion pack Brave New World.
- 11m25s | Modding Spotlight
Outlining the history, present status and future of "Kael's Modders Guide" for CivV followed by an update on the status of the "Civilization IV Diplomacy" MOD for the game.
- 28m47s | Mailbag
Answering a listener question about the ability to modify CivV sound and titles followed by transition from Java to LUA programming.
- 42m14s | Artist's Sketchpad
The depth of art asset resources available to modders for CivV as compared to CivIV and how history is repeating itself.

The first spin-off of the Civ strategy-centric PolyCast, this is ModCast's third of six intended episodes to constitute a fifth season following a 1 1/2 year hiatus. Fellow sibling RevCast focuses on Civilization: Revolution, SCivCast on Civ social gaming and TurnCast on Civ multiplay.

Strangely, I've never had any trouble with downloads on Steam. But I'm a sample size of one.

I'm making a post on the reddit linking the episode. This released faster than I thought!

I've often noticed what I would describe as an extended delay between subscribing to a MOD and having to start to download. That said, I too have never had it 'fail' for me. Hope you enjoyed the show!

Awesome guys, this was a great listen.
Thank you kindly. :king:

Appreciate the further press.

As it happens, this episode was recorded as late as I would want it to be given when I had it scheduled for release. Fortunately, it was able to be released in line with my planning. I take it you enjoyed the final product? :D

Since mods went to Steam's Workshop, I've had a couple of mods that persistently get flagged as problematic with end users getting them automatically after subscribing.

No idea why though, and it was never an issue pre-Steam Workshop, but it certainly is frustrating for all involved.

Hope you enjoyed the show, davii. :)

Always interesting to listen in to general views towards modding. Gave one of the guys a shout on here, after mention of info in a table format being mentioned, so these shows could help bring out things that aren't all that well known as well as general discussion :)
