Note from TheLopez
As you all know several excellent modders have left the community, but their work has not. To enable the community I have taken up the support of some of their work that includes this mod, the Enhanced Military Advisor by SupremeOverlord. As part of the support I have updated it to be compatible with v1.61. Please note that if SupremeOverlord decides to come back to the community I will relinquish the ownership of this mod component back to him if he wants it back. In the mean time, I will try to continue to make improvements on his mod as time permits.

GENERAL
-------
This mod is a complete redesign of the Military advisor. It does not change the rules of the game.

INSTALLATION
------------
Extract the contents of the zip file to 'My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS'
to install as a MOD. If you want to use it in all your games you should copy all files and
folders in 'My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS\Enhanced Interface\Assets'
to 'My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets'.
You might need to empty your cache a few times before this MOD takes effect. (Hold down the
shift key while the game is starting up)

FEATURES
--------
Spoiler :

1. All units are displayed in a scrollable list. The following info is displayed for each unit:
icon, name, strength, moves, experience and promotions.
2. The units can be grouped by different criteria:
a) By stack (group units for all city plots and all other plots with more then one unit, all
other units are shown as one group)
b) By combat type (melee, gunpowder, ...)
c) By location (city garisson, home territory, friendly territory (open borders), neutral
territory, enemy territory)
3. Changing the groups doesn't alter the selection.

PLANNED FEATURES
----------------
Spoiler :

1. Add more grouping criteria:
a) By nearest city
2. Add filter criteria:
a) By unit type
b) By combat type
c) By promotion
d) By location
3. Make it possible to upgrade and disband selected units (also show cost and number of units)
4. Add a plot view of the last selected unit (toggle between map view and plot view)
5. Maybe use color coding for the map view

TODO
----
Spoiler :

- translate interface

HISTORY

- Updated to be compatible with the v1.61 patch

Spoiler :

v 1.0
- first release

TheLopez, as I said in the Enhanced Foreign Advisor thread: great that you take care of these abandoned mods! :)
As I like this military advisor very much, I hope you will add some more features to it in the future. Perhaps some information about the defense situation in your cities, possibly vulnerable cities, upgradable units?
I am looking forward to your work. I am sure it will be great as usual!

I am planning on updating these mods so keep posting your feature requests!!!

Like in the unmodded advisor, informations about the enemy's (visible) units would be great.

Yep, I was thinking about that too, but thank you for mentioning it.

Absolutely - I've been tempted to go back to the vanilla advisor for this very reason.

Has anyone else noticed that if you have a lot of units it tends to take a long time to bring it up? Hmmm..... on the todo list now...

It would be nice to put a little list that shows the power of every civ, in increasing order, using the number from the demographics...

That is a very good idea Elhoim...

I'm having trouble using the mod in my regular games. I copied the mod to the custom assets folder like you said and have cleared the cache four times and it still doesn't work. The stand alone mod works fine though. Any suggesstions?

That is wierd... I'm not able to load it through my custom assets folder either...

I don't know, I'm playing around with it to see if it is a bug in the mod or not. I'll report back if I find something.

Hi after two weeks without any posts I wanted to ask, if there are any results for example for foreign units?

No, not yet, I am trying to finish up the alpha version of the immigration mod so I can get it to my testers. After that I should have some time to add this feature into the mod. Though, I have been toying around the idea of starting from scratch and making my own...

One idea:
How would it be to merge the vanilla with the enhanced advisor, so that, after chosing the leader, there will appear the enhanced version, or something like that.

Huh? Come again?

What I wanted to say:
In this version the enhanced advisor only shows your own units.
In vanilla the advisor shows only the units' locations, but not, how many.
So, the best would be, to merge these two, so we can have the advantage of the enhanced advisor for the vanilla functionality...

This advisor is very sllooooow to load in a large game...
Yep, I understand that, which is why I am writing a new one. I am just supporting this one.

BTW, the original vanilla military advisor is just as slow in a vanilla game when you show all of the units.
