So, I'm a little concerned that there has been no talk about the modding tools for Civ VI whatsoever. There was a brief mention when the game was first announce, but very little has been talked about since then. If I recall, by this time, there was much more information available about the tools for Civ V at this point in the games release. I know that some have already started tinkering with Civ VI, but I am not too confident in myself messing around with the game files. Plus I'm looking forward to an external map editor / creator. I do remember that even some in the community had their hands on the tools for V well before they were released. Am I missing something? I can't find anything referencing them... just that they are coming out. Please, Firaxis! At least give us some information.

I guess I'm expecting more or less the same tools for Civ V. An external worldbuilder is key for me, because I like maps. I still would like a GUI based editor for modding game data, but that will not likely happen. Apparently, people think that a GUI based tool would decrease modability even though they'd still be able to make advanced changes through scripting. I just hate digging through the XML to find the values I need to change. And it looks like with every iteration of the game, the XML files become more and more garbled and hard to just sift through. They can also be confusing to go through and find objects to change with the way they are organized.

Ah well, it is what it is, I guess.

From what I can tell, the SDK for Civ V was made available about a week after the game was released. I'm hoping we get some extra tools given the extra time we're waiting.
Yeah... I can't remember how long after the release of V when the SDK was released. I think it was longer than a week, maybe a month. But I know it wasn't that long and there was at least a little chatter from Firaxis about it. So far, not a peep and no tools in sight. I do hope that there will be more than what was released for V, but I'm hedging my bets on more or less the same tools.

They way they were talking it has already been in the works. But you bring up a good point... where is the patch? Haven't heard a word or barely an acknowledgement.
