I have been dealing with my modem constantly disconnecting. I called Verizon (my ISP) they offered to send me a new modem. They provide Westell modems and ActionTec modems. I have been using a Westell Versalink 327W. It keeps disconnecting. Should I get a new Westell or get an ActionTec?

whoa, modems.. i haven't heard of anyone using one of those in years.

if your moddem crapped out, then it doesn't really matter which you get. go with the one you had - it worked for you in the past.

if that doesn't do it, you might be getting line noise.. you could buy a noise filter - i used to use one of those.

that, or somebody is picking up your phone, which i doubt, since that's too obvious.

You know that DSL uses 'modems' as well? I have a modem at home too and its not dial up.

As for the OP's question, Id go with ActionTec. If the modems the ISp keeps providing are crapping out, they wont charge you right? If so, doesnt hurt to try the other brand.
