I have created 3 new city graphics for the Civilization III game, can be used for European maps and European civilizations, I used the cityscape from firaxis and edited it.

I created a Western European cityscape in which glass and steel dominate
I created an Eastern European cityscape, in which the concrete pane dominates
I created a Central European cityscape in which the old buildings and houses are also present.

The graphic change was not without problems, because the indexed color, which contains 256 colors, can only be edited if I change it, I reshaped it and the transparent magenta color became visible in the civilization III map editor.
I have a question, why is it that if I change the color of some buildings on the city screen, the transparency is removed from the magenta color?
Where can I set the magenta color back to transparent range?

With PSP7 simply set the magenta golour to be the last colour in the palette (take care that it is really 255- 0 - 255) and poison green to be the second last colour in the palette. Additionaly you can set the transparency setting to that magenta colour, too (I don´t know, if the last step is really necessary).

Civinator,
Thank you for your help.
I was able to solve it in a rather adventurous way, because even though I made it transparent in the specified way and set the magenta color, as you showed, somehow it didn't work, because it still didn't become transparent.
What helped was that the saving to the web page (with a transparent background) worked, the new colors were also preserved for the cities. However, this method did not bring results for the walled central European city either, the latter was transparent with a lower color roof color at the very beginning of the setting, so this setting remained.

Mostly this problem appears, when the magenta colour is looking like the needed magenta colour, but in reality is not exactly 255-0-255, but something like 253-0-253 or something like that.

I finally managed to set it up, without color loss, here is the new Central European cityscape with wall (AMERWALL.pcx)
The entire package can be downloaded here
