Modpack Problems

Alright I have been a realitivly low-poster/lurker of these boards for awhile. I have never really downloaded anything another then a unit here a secenaro there just to keep the game new. However one day I stumbled onto the modpack fourm and I was just at awe. I came across many mods that I liked and downloaded them and followed the directions to the letter. But I cannot run any mods at all.

I had bought orginally the Civilization 3 goldpack then the Civlization 3 Conquest Exp. pack. I have a feeling and a fear that the goldpack is messing some things up so that I cannot run the mods. However I do not know and have not been able to find any threads with a similar problem.

Please if you could try to give me some idea to why these mods just arent working for me.

"I cannot run any mods at all" - you don't give us chance to help. Could you be more specific ie. what exactly happens when you load a mod? what mods? (full mods, graphic mods etc. , exact titles).

Most problems result from having a mod incompatible with your civ3/exp. version, ie. if you have Conquests pack, then look for C3C mods only... if a mod was made for PTW, load it using PTW, not C3C and so on.

Well to be more specific - I cannot load any complete modpacks including War on Arda and pretty much all of the lotr ones. Also the very big warhammer mod that is out I could not load either. Anyways I tried looking for C3C only Modpacks and I cant really find any.

Well, all that LotR mods were made for vanilla civ3 and are like 1 year old... their authors are gone and don't update them. GIDustin converted one of those for PTW, but that's all. It's no suprise you can't load them with C3C... Much of the stuff in modpacks section is long dead, so before downloading, check if the mod was made or updated for C3C, or at least latest PTW.

As for the Warhammer mod, I happen to be the author, so I can help you with any specific problems you may have (this mod is for C3C). However, you must tell me ie. what happens when you load the mod (through Civ-Content)? what errors do you get? etc. Also what version of the warhammer mod do you have? (1.0 is the basic "big" version, but you should also have 1.1 update).

ahh thanks I been away for awhile. I understand why LotR mods dont work now for me but I figured out how to run WH by myself Btw nice mod I really like the wood elves (I forget there name but you know what I mean )

This is off-topic, but I can't help myself.
Props to embyodead for putting together (IMHO) the best Fantasy mod ever for Civ3.
As much as I like, I'm not sure my mod will really surpass that one.
