Mods Disappeared?

I was in the middle of a game, and I went away for a few days, and several of my mods have disappeared. Even though I am subscribed to those mods they do not appear in the list of mods you see at start up nor do they download. In addition, one mod I had to install manually (InfoAddict) is gone too.

I have no idea what's going on here, and I haven't done anything to the game or the computer to cause this.

Any suggestions?

Have you reloaded steam lately. There have been some upgrades.

Mine disappeared this afternoon and I have been here. This game has so many bugs and glitches in it that it is laughable. World Builder doesn't work....mods disappear. It is almost too frustrating to even be fun !

I am also having a similar issue to this.

I was playing a game of Civ when I experienced a random crash-to-desktop. The CTD somehow deleted all the mods I had in use for that game. These mods are normally very stable and I've never had an issue with them before, so I simply tried to re-download them through the Steam workshop. Even though I am listed as subscribed to said mods, I cannot install them, and the Civ in-game mod list will not refresh. The mods are also not located in my MODS directory, so I know Civ is not downloading them.

I have tried deleting Civ5ModsDatabase.db, unsubscribing and resubscribing, rebooting my machine, and verifying the integrity of my Civ5 installation, all to no success.

Any recommendations? Can I force Civ5 to manually refresh it's mod list and verify that it has correctly downloaded all subscribed mods?

I also tried deleting the Civ5ModsDatabase.db file. At first it didn't seem to work, but after several restarts the mods appeared again on the start list and in the mods folder. However they don't seem to be actually working. I can't see InfoAddict or Trade Opportunities although they appear to have downloaded.

Too buggy to be believed.

I didn't do anything and mine reappeared about an hour ago. I guess they had been to a Civ5 convention for a few days????????????????????????

I spoke too soon.....all but one is gone again. I guess they didn't get their fill of partying at the convention. This is a Maserati game with a VW Beetle engine. Ridiculous.

Ridiculous indeed. I posted messages on both the Civilization and 2K support forums. No reply to either.

I closed and reopened steam and the my Mods came back but I can't load my old save.

I'm positive I only had the mods
R.E.D Modpack (v. 24)
Really Advanced Setup(v. 5)
InfoAddict (v. 19(
Echoes of Ages - CiVilization Plus (v. 65)

plus the unofficial patch installed

With those four enabled I still can't load my save from yesterday

Yes, I had the same problem for a day or two but then it went mysteriously went away and I could load my saved game. Check your MODS folder. Are the mods you subscribed to really there?

By the way, I finally did get a reply from 2K but still nothing from Civ 5. The 2K reply is useless but I'll copy here anyway:

Thanks for contacting us. The authors of these mods do reserve the right to take them down whenever they wish. We believe these customer may be having a similar issue.

If an author of a mod decides to remove a his creation, this will also remove it from your game. Were all of these mods that disappeared created by the same person?

Best regards,

Christopher Z.

You were right, my mods weren't actually there.

So, I manually downloaded them from this site and CiV installed them but it still wouldn't let me load my save.

It was more than likely corrupted as to what mods were, or were not loaded. You may have to go back to a save before the trouble began.

A few days ago, a Steam update messed up some workshop-based games. Including Civ V. Pretty sure that's what's causing the mod bugs. I've posted a message about it to them, so they will know what's going on. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Don't hold your breath. A google search will show that mod functionality has been broken since mid-2012 at least.

The "answer" from steam is complete BS. Right now I have to perform this onerous "workaround" *every time* a savegame file using mods is to be reloaded:

1) Start civV and click through to the Get Mods button to bring up the Steam window;
2) Unsubscribe from all mods (be sure to write the list down on a piece of paper, including exact rev!)
3) Shut down CivV and the Steam window;
4) Kill the 'steam' process via Task Manager
5) Blow away everything in your MODS and CACHE folders
6) Do #1 again (no pee-pee jokes please:) This whole thing already smells like #2)
7) Do #2 in reverse (Ha ha, that's right, suck that crap up!)
8) While the mods load automatically, get some toilet paper and clean up.

Hopefully this has raised enough of a "stink" to garner some attention. And I'll start throwing feces from my crib if it don't get attention!
