    UK air defence sucks!

Seriously, 3 consecutive turns of air raids on London, about a total of 30 attacks. I have 4 flaks and 6 fighters there. Total shotdown:3!!

RKP had a similar experience as you are having now. Those German bombers are invisible because of their night bombing ability. You'll need to station some detect invisible units in London or where ever you're being bombed to get better results. Can you build those night fighting Blenheims yet? If not just put a destroyer in London and you should start intercepting those bombers with more success.

We are thinking along those lines ourselves. I was thinking that if trade remained turned off. Then this would be the way to go to get some of those units built in Canada. Since for right now Canada can not produce anything more than Infantry and Guns. I have found and been giving to Moff some of Wrymshadow's units that would fit nicely into that lend-lease.

Got a radar staton up now, and things improved. But my Wellington bombers can't hit a mountain. Tried to use them to support the french, but 16 attacks (over 4 turns) failed to score a single hit on the germans. Even the italians got clear. Gonna put the crews on latrine duty!

Don't feel that bad jlvfr. I am using the Withworths and am having the same problem. In this point of the war. The British Bomber Command had a real headache with its ability to reach and hit the target with a large bomb load. Not until the Lancaster was put into production did the situation improve. I try and offset this bad hit rate buy running the bombers in groups of 12 units. I told my bombadiers that if they didn't improve. they would be dumped into the Channel with out a chute! ;)

Tell me about it. It is very frustrating when you use up a whole force of ships, troops, or aircraft, just to get a few hits on a target. And then the Axis units seem to hit every time with every unit they use.

    Moff!!!

I encountered a big time problem today. I was building a Lend-Leas M3 tank. Ready to pop up and the game crashed. Got this message: art\units\LLM3 Desert\../misc/pz3gray/attack A.wav" Went back to the auto-save of the turn before and changed production. Game is still running. So need to find out what is wrong with the sound of that unit.

    Guys:

I have a couple of questions for you and hopefully some one can answer them for me.

    1. Has anyone found a way to remove the mines along the German coast? Short of the human wave attack with Destroyers and such.

    2. I want to copy off a shot of my game for some visual references for you guys . But I guess I have forgotten the sequence of commands for this particular game to do so.

Moff, be advised that the T-34/76, which uses the PRTO_T34c, has incorrect sound paths in the INI and causes a crash like RKP's. I just copied and pasted the regular T-34's sounds over. Corrected INI is attached.

I'll give you another summary soon. The war's going well, especially in Europe. I'm looking forward to your naval changes. The more of the actual models that can match up to the units, the better! It'd be great to see all those battleships and cruisers that Wyrm made represent the individual classes.

    Guys:

I have played up to week 1 of 1941. And what work it was! On turn 38,1940. The US took Sardina away from the Italians. Now at this time, I had thought that the one transport I had seen was a survivor. But from turn 39 to 46. I was able to see a total of 5 in the Atlantic and 4 in the Pacific. Now Moff, which version of the mod did you use to make yours? I ask because the version 2.7 US Transports, done by Rocotech and Meateater had auto-production in San Diego and New York every 7 turns. Which would make some kind of sense to the US behavior I have seen so far.

On turn 40, I took Sicily and got no reaction from the German AI. In the past the AI would come charging in to take me out of Italy. On turn 41, Thailand declared war on me!. Silly buggers! I had to reroute a number of Army units moving through India to go after them. Thus my China campaign came to a halt. On turn 43 to 45, I took Naples and held it to see what the AI would do. On turn 45, it send a large mixed force of tanks, AT guns, Marine, and Romanian Infantry. I gave Naples to Portugal and again the force turned back to Europe. On turn 47, Thailand was no more. Ended up with a side-ache from laughing so hard over the fight and what was said by the units. The Indian units were saying "Sorry I don't speak English very well" This being the voice of Hapoo from Family Guy. The Thai's when they died said "Thank you and I will see you in hell" In some high pitched squeaky voice. Trying to figure out where that is from.

The Air War really heated up on turns 43 and 44. Not having any good targets to go after. I decided to use the American AF tactic from WW2. Went after improvements with the idea of cutting up the roads. Found the German fighters when I did this. I did manage to cut up the roads. But bomber command was in ruins. I thought Japan was going to try and take Singapore in turn 44, with a large invasion fleet. It was made up of, 2 BB's, 1 DD, 1 SS, and 1 TT. Instead it went to Palembang, Sumatra. There my Battle group and Sub flotilla cornered the ships and sank them. So far, I have been able to take out 3 of Japans Battleships.

I was surprised to see a total of 4 US transports coming up the Channel on turn 48. In turn 49, the US took Antwerp, but the Germans took it back on turn 50. While the US was invading Antwerp. I attacked and took Rome. Germany came at me in full force by turn 52. I promptly ran back to my transports in the Adriatic, and let Portugal take control of Rome. Yea, I had used the back door method. Attacking from the Adriatic to capture Rome. Because that stupid French Cruiser is still plugging the Strait! I have another Invasion Fleet coming in from the west. And the plan is for it to take Corsica, Torino, and Milan. While my Adriatic force will take Bologna from the backside as well. (snicker..Bologna...backside) Thus Italy will then be out of the war.

I managed to take Palembang, Sumatra on turn 52. Argentina declared war on Brazil at that time as well. Guess it figures. In history, Argentina favored the Nazis. While Brazil was part of the Allies. Wonder if I can get a spy slipped into Argentina to help Brazil? The really big thing to me as 1940 closed and 1941 started was that European France still STANDS! In all my other games. Mainland France is gone. I really do think it has something to do with the AT gun production. In the other games, you would just see waves of tanks and infantry go after the cities. Only the cities of Verdun, Lillie, and Paris are under German control. Oh, how I would like to see those French Army units I sent to you Moff, be in game right now! As turn 52, 1940 turned into 1, 1941. The German AI gave me a really big surprise. It had built a Gneisenau class BC and a Troopship. That was headed for London! It ran out of movement right at the coastline. AND, it parked right beside my Furious, Malaya, Barham, Queen Elizabeth battle group. The Japanese have an invasion fleet that has 2 BB's, 1 TT, 2 DD's coming down the Makassar Strait. I have 2 Destroyer Divisions (1DL,8 DD per Division) and my Ark Royal, Valiant, Warspite, Hood battle group capping off the Strait. Talk about a New Year present for the British! :)

Sounding good, RKP. I especially like your actions against the Japanese fleet. Nothing like seeing the AI painstakingly assemble an invasion force, only to be sunk en route.

My game continues. The Finns put up a terrific resistance, and their ability to penetrate terrain made them a real tough opponent. So it was a slogfest but eventually I barrelled my way through. In southeastern Europe, I used the old Soviet strategy of hitting their weak spot with everything I got. I had some defensive troops hold the line along the Polish border, and then threw all my tanks, aircraft, and motorized forces against Hungary. After capturing Budapest and eastern Austria, I had a separate Front invade Italy, which utterly wreaked havoc. The Italians were not prepared for this unexpected attack, and by late 1940 Soviet forces had occupied the peninsula and Sicily, with only Milan/Torino remaining. The British and French captured all of North Africa.

In the Far East, my forces had achieved good early success in Manchuria, but the Japanese had a large number of good infantry. Rather than head up to Mukden, I swung south into Korea: powerful cities but with few defenders. It worked out well, and all Korea has now been captured. The Japanese are not so easily defeated, though. They rushed in large numbers of fighters and bombers and pounded my positions. This not only damaged and immobilized my offensive, but also formed the basis of a large counterattack that could have left my cities open to occupation. Only a massive rebasing of bomber aircraft and a vigorous counter-air campaign directed against their airfields turned the tide. With their air forces depleted, my troops will tighten the noose in Manchuria before looking to China.

Early 1941 brought a new offensive in Europe. Since I can now build T-34s, and will soon have improved infantry and motorized forces, I threw all my BT-5s in two massive thrusts supported by artillery and air support (those Soviet artillery corps are great). Casualties were horrendous. The push worked, though. My forces pounded into Koenigsberg and Gdansk in the north, while the southern forces secured Austria, Muenchen, Milan, and Frieberg, where the slaughter was particularly bad.

In Spring '41 now, there's going to be a build up of pressure before the next big assault when I make enough new units. I should be able to take Torino with my surviving forces, which will leave Italy alive only in the Horn. A Guards Airborne division dropped on Germany's last oil supply, and two Motor Rifle Divisions linked up so they ain't getting it back. The Germans mount powerful defense and counterattack vigorously, but it's now only a matter of time.

I just completed my road to Whitehorse Canada. There was the one oil resource right by it. I was complaining that all I could build was Infantry and some of Guns. Thinking that with the trade off and having no Coal in Canada. That was all I could build. When I completed the road, a number of units opened up for me. I had forgotten that oil was important for some of those units. Still don't think that I can build or use some units in Canada with out the coal.

    Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around the past few days. Been tied up both at work and home. Anyway:

    1. What I usually do is use BB's and Bombers to whittle down the HP of those mines. I think BB's have lethal sea bombardment so eventually you will be able to blast those mines out of the water. It will take quite a long time though. OTOH if you've got a mine down to 1HP then send in a human wave of ships and accept the high loss rate but end up sinking the mine. It all depends on the situation and what you are trying to accomplish I guess. I purposely made those mines hard to clear to give the Germans a hiding place for their ships as they are hopelessly outnumbered in the naval department.

    2. Do you mean how to take a screen shot or attach the save file to a post in this thread?

    Hi Anthony,

Thanks for finding and correcting this bug. I'll check my files and make the corrections on my end so that when I send out the update to this scenario this correction will be included in the core files.

Yes, I have been wanting to take a few screen shots of the game and show them to you guys. I am sure you would like to see for example. The patchwork that is now Italy. After I have given parts of it to Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland. :)

Ah that might be a problem that I found a while back and corrected on my version but failed to fix it for the public release. The sound file should be Pz3JGrayAttackA.wav not pz3gray/attack A.wav. Check the ini for the LLM3Desert in the units folder and let me know. If that's not it there might be something else I missed then with this unit in the Pedia.txt file.

Humm, you just gave me a interesting idea there Moff. I have of couple of Wyrmshadow's ships that are non-specific and non-national. Maybe we could make them into a Minesweeper/Mine-layer type of ship. That could carry a mine to a location and place it. And have the strength to remove a mine. At the same time is very weak against other ships, so it would need to be escorted.

I found in the ini, that the J was between Gray and Attack for Attack3. Not between the 3 and Gray. Changed it and will see how it goes.

I had added the J in Attack1 after I had seen Anthony's post and went to check on my bug. It still crashed..but as I have said. Found the error in Attack3. So lets see if that fixes it.
