I am playing Conquests. I am attempting a domination win and I am currently in Republic. I am at war with the largest civ early in the Modern Era. I need to change governments to something more conducive to war. I have ~50 cities and ~20 are larger than 12. What government is going to be the best for War Weariness and production? Also in Fascism is forced labor the hurry method? And after I conquer the entire civ can I build cultural buildings? I will probably switch govts again as soon as I conquer them.

Well you could use CAII to see what the results would be, if you should to any government. Forget Fascism, that should not be in the cards. CA can be found in the utilities forum.

You can stay in Republic, if you have enough lux and do not stay at war for too long. The std amount is 20 turns, but you can go longer. It will just cost you in lux slider.

I would not think 50 towns is large enough for Commie, but it is close. If you expect to grab lots of land in the war and get very large, then MOnarchy is better.

You can never capture culture structure, other than wonders. Switching means anarchy, so if you are non religious I would avoid it.

Have you already read an article in the War Academy called 'Fascism vs Communism' by Ision? It deals with your question, although it will probably not answer it in a conclusive manner. It's not such an easy one...

Communism if you ask me before telling me the details. First off, are all of your cities connected, and is your empire relatively large? What map size is it, and do you already have a big army? Also, if you're religious, then it's irrelevant, but how much non-productive time can you spare? What difficulty level, and finally, do you have a lot of cash?

It depends on if you anticipate needing to rush projects. Communism's chief failing is that rushed projects require beating the populace.

1. All cities are connected and my empire is the largest in land area.
2. The map size is large and the army is big but I do not have enough offensive units.
3. I'm playing Japanese so yes religious.
4. Regent and ~2500 cash.

I chose to go with Monarchy because my core cities have factories and I need them to be the most productive. I also switched to mobilization. My opponent (Iroquois) has lots of defensive units and ~ 20 cavalry vs my tanks and mech infantry. I have been using Marines to pick off the islands that they have colonized. I have been fighting a defensive action (basically holding the “beachhead”) with artillery, bombers and the few tanks that I have until I can build enough tanks to go offensive.

Other info of use would be the date and the intended Victory Condition. Also, how much artillery do you have? With 20+ artillery, you can take 2-3 cities a turn, even with cavalry. Are you concerned with attitude? If you aren't, use raze-and-replace. How many armies do you have? Anyway, good luck!

This might very well be winnable in Republic...can you post a save? That pile of cash will only be useful for upgrading units or stealing techs in a Communist/Facist government.

I much prefer communism to fascism. That 1pop lost per town can hurt more than you think... and I'm not sure it's all that useful for a larger empire.

How about staying in republic and mobilizing? Your production of units gets a huge boost, and no anarchy.

But then there's war weariness to account for, especially if you haven't yet mastered it (like me).

True. I suggest homework, here is your assignment. Read this and go out and kill.

I asked myself the same question in my current game (COTM 43)

I stayed in Republic all over the time, but now i want to kick some asses :king:

I decided for Facism over Monarchy. Here are the reasons:

My opponents have a huge army (SID), so in need a huge army too! The number of allowed units in facism is superior, especially if you have more cities and metros than towns. If you have a lot of towns, communism delivers a better free unit support. However, in my game i have a lot of ics-spaced farming towns, so communism is out of order, as it would produce too much corruption in my core.

Worker efficiency is 200%, instead of 100% in a Monarchy. Well it is not an issue in my game, because i developped all the tiles already. However it may be of interest for you.

And the the last and most important reason for facism is the following:
If your opponents have a lot more culture than you, then go to Facism! In Facism, every conquered city loses 2 citizens. Add to this the draft option and people-rush-method (in Monarchy you rush with money!). With these options, you can easily get a metro down to a low number and decrase the flip-possability a lot! This is the main advantage of Facism in my eyes. Just be sure, that you have enough workers standing by, if you revolt, because your own cities will lose population too when you switch. With these workers you can easily regain the size of your core cities, and are in a perfectly designed whakking government! :goodjob:

My answer to the question is "stay in Republic".

Can your enemies be persuaded to declare war on you instead of the other way round? If so you will get a happiness boost for 20 turns, as long as you don't start losing cities and units too quickly.

With 2500 cash, spend the next few turns cash-rushing lots of Artillery, build a couple of Infantry to support them, then go on the rampage.

I would simply stay in Republic. If you're a good enough player, a switch is not necessary.

Though for some types of games, Communism triumphs all!

Well, if that's the case, if you are the tech leader, I've wiped out Impossibly Huge Stacks of Cavs, Rifles, and Infantry with Mech Infantry - 2 to each city without losing one city.

But then again, 200% worker efficiency does come in handy, if you're Industrious, a worker could road in 1 turn (right). I have to try Fascism one day.
