Money Ceiling?

Has anyone ever noticed that you cannot get above a certain amount of gold?

I am an experienced player, and I am playing a game on Chieftain just so I could see all of the movies from the WOTWs in one game (okay, I always wondered what Oracle and Eiffel Tower movies looked like). Anyway, I have about 30,000 gold and I'm netting about 400 a turn, but the total is just not getting any higher. At higher levels, I usually spend the gold on something, so I've never noticed this before.

Any thoughts?

I play on Playstation and the same thing happens except you DO accrue the cash, it just doesn't go past 30,000... Don't spend cash for a few turns, then drop 1000 on something. Your reserve will still say 30,000...

No, I started spending and the total went down right away. I mean, I know that you can't take it with you, but...

On the PC (the real version ) it caps at 30,000 and sits there, any spending drops it from the 30,000 mark.

Oh... I guess on PS you could have 90,000 but only see the 30,000... And ANYWAYS Duke, I couldn't imagine playing Civ2 on a pc... It would take some getting use to... I really do relish the idea of making my own maps and MP though... <drool drool>
