I'm looking to get a new monitor primarily for Civ VII, budget approximately £300.

PC Spec:-
Code:
AlphaSync Obsidian RTX 3070Ti AMD Ryzen 7 32GB RAM 4TB HDD 1TB SSD Gaming Desktop PC
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz
32GB RAM, 4TB HDD, 1TB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070Ti
WiFi & Windows 11 Home
3 Year Warranty (1yr parts 3yr labour)
32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro
Corsair 850W TX850M 80 PLUS
CORSAIR iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX Liquid CPU Cooler

I've been thinking of something like this but any thoughts or recommendations welcomed.

Samsung LS34C500GAUXXU 34" WQHD Monitor - 3440x1440, 100Hz, VA, Displayport, HDMI, Freesync

I got a 27 inch with half the resolution recently for 170€, so I guess this is price-wise comparable.
The refresh-rate is as expected, and for luminosity I don't know really, there you should compare what other monitors in the price range can offer.

The only real turnoff I see is the energy label. I also can't see if it's height-adjustable or not (is tiltable though), which is important for the ergonomics.
It also depends on if you're okay with HDMI and USB-C connections, or if you might still need a DVI connector or not (VGA... well... not anymore a thing).

I suspect I am too late, but for the love of all that is good in this world, do not buy a VA panel. Once you see the black smearing, you can't unsee it, and you will regret your purchase.

I specifically upgraded my monitor for this game. I hadn't even really used my PC for about six months. Once I saw the game in HDR (tested on my LG C1 TV), I knew I had to have good HDR. This meant OLED. I got lucky and found someone in my neighborhood selling their Alienware 34" ultrawide. The game looks great.

For something in your budget, go to rtings.com and check out the "best 1440p" (or whatever your criteria may be.
