This one looks like a blatant MOO2 ripoff, which isn't terrible I guess since it's such a good game. Just check out the combat screenshots with the 2d graphics and grid underneath.

There have been so many of these lately I was thinking about compiling a list. I haven't played any of these, but if you have maybe you could share your opinion on it? Some already have their own devoted threads though like stellaris. Is stellaris much like MOO though or more live civ in space?

Anyway, here's the titles I could think off:

Stars in Shadow
http://store.steampowered.com/app/464880/

Star drive
http://store.steampowered.com/app/220660/

Star drive 2
http://store.steampowered.com/app/252450/

Stellaris
http://store.steampowered.com/app/281990/

Endless space
http://store.steampowered.com/app/208140/

Master of Orion (reboot)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298050/

I know there's a couple others, I just can't think of them right now.

Oh, Stars in Shadow is out ? Cool !
I'll probably get it soon, unless reviews are terrible. Reception on Steam seems pretty positive so far.
The other games on your list all have the same flaw: No tactical turn based combat. That was one of the deal breakers for the new Master of Orion.

Stellaris is an unusually accessible Paradox game (which is almost its own genre) IN SPACE. It doesn't have much in common with either Civ or MoO. It feels less like a strategy game and more like a playable SF epic like Babylon 5.
