Filmmaker Michael Moore is bringing his blockbuster documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11” to President Bush’s adopted hometown — and has invited the film’s star to attend.

When it appeared that no movie theater in the president’s home county would show the anti-Bush documentary, Moore promised a copy to the Crawford Peace House, a facility for seminars, meetings, or workshops dedicated to peace.

A theater in Waco picked up the movie last week, but Moore later offered to come to Crawford to introduce his movie and discuss it afterward.

Organizers expect about 1,000 people to attend the show Wednesday night at a football stadium parking; police said demonstrators against the film were also expected.

“I personally think we’re just a little town, and it’s kind of an invasion in our small town,” said Fran Shelton, whose family owns the Crawford Coffee Station. “Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but I’d be happier if he didn’t bring it to Crawford.”

Moore, on his Web site, invited Bush to attend, saying he wanted a chance to thank him personally for starring in the film. “And let’s face it, you’ve got some of the funniest lines in the film!” he wrote.

A White House representative did not return a call early Tuesday.

Moore’s condemnation of Bush’s actions regarding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks recently became the first documentary to top the $100 million mark domestically.

Fran's pretty stupid - she's going to sell more coffee in one night than in the past 5 years total.

The title should read "Michael Moore offers screening of his movie as cheap publicity grab." I hope Ray Bradbury rips him a new one for swiping the name, but alas I think Mr Bradbury has too much class to do it the way it should be done.

On a related note, Moore refuses to talk to the guy who is making a negative movie about him. ;)
I heard that guy in an interview on the radio. The goose-gander maxim certainly applies, but that guy is really a loon.

And because Moore won't talk to this guy, Michael Moore Hates America, right?

Do you even know why he won't talk to that guy? Because that guy is a nut, and he doesn't want to waste his time. Just like the scientists who won't talk to the Creationists. Is it because they know they are wrong and will lose and don't want to admit it? No. It's because they don't feel the need to waste their time with people they see as unscietific baffoons.

Is it just me, or does the phrase "blockbuster documentary" sound kinda weird?

It's another Michael Moore thread! I haven't seen one of these for, oooh, minutes.

I wish we had an equivalent to Michael Moore here in Britain. Americans seem to find him more interesting than anything else on the planet, irrespective of whether they agree with him or not. I think we're losing out. Everyone here likes him - assuming they've heard of him - but it would be nice to have our own.

Whats so wierd about it.
I dunno, it's just that when I think of documentaries, I think of boring films that 12 people have seen, not blockbusters. I guess Moore has changed that.

Nope they are still boring. :p

But of course!

Do you even know why he won't talk to that guy? Because that guy is a nut, and he doesn't want to waste his time.

Are we talking about Bush and Moore or Moore and that other guy? (I hope you see what I'm getting at here.)

I was talking about Moore and that other guy. You are saying that Moore can't criticize Bush for not seeing his film if Moore wouldn't be interviewed for that nut's film.

Also, how can that nut claim to be a rebel, as Moore is already the rebel, as he is rebelling against the neo-Con agenda. Is the nut rebeling against the rebel?

Yep. Although I'm taking it too seriously. As Igloo Dudesaid, its just a cheap publicity grab.

Also, how can that nut claim to be a rebel, as Moore is already the rebel, as he is rebelling against the neo-Con agenda. Is the nut rebeling against the rebel?

Is the world divided into two camps, Neo-Cons and Michael Moore? :crazyeye:

Anyway, if this guy making the anti-Moore movie isn't a conservative, he'll be my favorite person alive. I respect no one more than someone who is against one side of the establishment, but doesn't fall into the the trap of the other, equally reactionary side.

I know what you mean, it seems anytime a person says something another person disagrees with, that automatical means they hate America. Thats like saying that Bush hates America because he won't accept the invitation to see Fahrenheit 9-11. It's stupid.

Maybe Bush thinks that Moore is a nut, and won't waste his time seeing Moores movie.

It could go either way. I don't take part of some threads because most people have there minds made up about evolution vs creation or conservetive vs liberal. No matter what I say about creation really won't change the mind of someone who is bent on evolution.

I better get back on topic. :)

Even though I find that Moores movie is wrong, I still think it's funny that Moore is bringing it to Bush's hometown even though some people don't want it there. Freedom of speech I guess.
