I am really enjoying the new scenarios in the latest expansion. I would love if there were a few more in cIV. Two come to mind: The American Civil War, and the Unification of China in the Chin Dynasty. Anyone have other historical scenarios you'd like to see?

I would like to see a scenario of the war between Zanzibar and England in 1896

I would like to see a Cold War one, and maybe one on the Boxer Revoultion.

The wars of the roses could be a good one (for those of you that don't know English history it was a period when two families claimed the crown and hence fought for it - watch the first series of Blackadder). I have actualy fought about making it a few times but got put off by not knowing too much about this period in time.

Also the great war should DEFINETLY be in there - we are talking about a war that had more impact on the world then anything else (even more so than the second world war).

A World War 2 Europe (with East Coast US) would be great. Sure, there are good player ones around but I would really like to see how good a one the civ team could come up with :) Plus, that way the developers could address issues such as how to have airbases in allies territories (think the US airforce in England)....(+ also how to recreat D-Day!) and also how allainces would work etc.

Scenarios can be made by fans. ;)

I have ony come across one fan-made scenario that I enjoyed - TETurkhan's Test of time. But it was so big the game took an hour (no exaggeration) between each turn, and I'm on a Pentium 4 system. It probably could have gone faster if the developers knew how to optimize the system resources for such a large scenario.

Anyway, my point was that I really liked the the new ones in Conquests and wanted them to do more.

What is it you like about the scenarios bundled with the game? I don't see much difference between those and many of the better made scenarios here.

There are many projects with quite a few people putting a lot of hard work into them. The entire website of CDG was founded around a World War II scenario (they have custom graphics for every single unit you could possibly find in WWII... it's insane). There are huge threads on scenarios that are good.

I don't see why people see the better fan-made scenarios as inferior. A lot of work went into both the ones in the game and these ones.

I would rather the dev team spent time improving gameplay or the AI than having to research, create, test and balance scenarios which could easily be produced by the fan community.

I didn't mean to imply that I saw fan-made scenarios as inferior. I just haven't played ones that I enjoyed as much as the ones bundled with Conquests. I feel the developers did a good job with the scenarios and suggest they make a couple more. If you know of any specific fan-made scenarios that you really enjoyed, I'd love to try them.

Just a few ideas, some of these might be around already

WW2 just in north Africa might be interesting.
The English conquests of Wales,Scotland and Ireland.
Colonisation of America, just like the game Colonisation without the tedious buying and selling and specialist parts.
The Napoleonic war.
The Gulf war, this one might be a bit too close to home right now though
