Looks like people are now exploiting windows messaging to send spam.

I already posted such a thread several days ago. It exploits some NetBIOS backdoors and the f**ing software is called Direct advertiser, $700 commercial piece of crap.
Just disable the messaging function on2K and XP, or make your zonealarm block port 135-139 and that should be fine.

Guess that's the problem - ironically, this particular forum is spammed so much lately, I can't possibly read all the posts in it

I have a simple solution, INSTALL LINUX!!! It won't work with those popups!

I really do believe that almost all computer problems can be solved using Linux

You could always install Mac OS, but then you are just punishing yourself for no reason

That statement, gonzo, gives me flashbacks of setting up the computers in my wife's class room. All are Mac OS 6 or 7....I think. I really have no idea, I just made up the numbers, but they are not fun to work with when I have only used UNIX and Windows/DOS my whole life.
