Punishing the Pirates
For decades the prosperity of our Empire rested on the Mediterranean trade. It is this trade that has made our Empire into what it is today, what made our people prosper and rich. It is this trade that provides our citizens with their livelihood. It is therefor from outmost importance that the traderouts within the Mediterranean are kept save, for without save traderoutes the livelihood of the Empires citizins is endangered. The main goal of the Empire is to keep its people prosperous and thus the traderoutes clear of danger.
For years the Empire has battled against pirates, suspecting but not knowing where they came from. But now the origins of these pirates has been revealed. Last year ships from the North African Confederation attacked a New Britain merchant bound for one of our harbours. Luckily the merchant had an escort, minimizing the loss of innocent life.
The NAC has shown its true colours. For years it has threatened the peace an prosperity in the Mediterranean, in secret, with its pirating. This last attack openly threatened the peace and prosperty. But not only that, by attacking a ship destined to a harbour of the Empire it directly threatened the prosperity of us. It threatened the livelihood of our people, its prosperity and its safety.
As stated before, the main goal of the Empire is to keep its people safe ande prosperous. The Empire, therefor, needs to act on the situation. The threat to our people needs to be cleared and there is only one course of action to do this.
The Empire will go to war against the NAC with as direct goal the removal of their access to the Mediterranean.
