Most Future Tech in one game?

I thought I would bring this up since I am currently doing a Settler Huge Marathon game where I got to Future tech with 700 turns left any may get 200+ future tech. I am assuming that one needs Marathon speed to max future tech since you cannot get more then 1 tech a turn. I think a tech every 2 turns is feasible in the later stages of such a game.

So what will that do. + 200 happy in every city? Does it just keep doing the +1 happy for every one?

PS Probably time to bump it up to Warlord, don't you think?

i've got future tech 2 once. other than that, i turn the science to 0% after future tech 1 and pump out the gold + culture.

I've never had any, i've never needed them and just plonk my research down to 0% for the cash, if you need a bit of happiness go and take it off someone or put the culture up a bit.

PS. my first monarch game was wierd, i never even nearly finished the tech tree, but then neither did anyone else, Only 2 civs had flight but 2050, dunno what happened in that game!

I rarely research Future Tech. Like nate and zeise, I drop my research to zero and spend my money on culture instead. Why spend a whole lot of time to get 1 happiness in each city eventually when you can crank the culture slider to a mere 40% and get 10 happiness in each city instantly (4 + 4 from Theatre + 2 from Colosseum)? Setting it to something more like what research would be set at, like 80%, gives 20 happiness per city. Therefore, Future Tech is only worth the trouble if you either really need the health, intend to quickly research about twenty of it (which I don't, near the end of the game, plus I have gold reserves to build up with lower culture settings), or don't have Theatres and Colloseums in your cities (that late in the game there's no excuse).

I usually stop learning science or future tech and put up the culture slider, unless I could really use the extra happiness.

Yeah I never bother either. Future Tech 5 or 6 is my highest maybe. Pointless to carry on researching IMO, seeing as by that stage you normally have no probelms with happiness anymore.

I think I got up to future tech 2 or 3 once and then realized I didn't need science anymore. Science goes to 0 and culture goes as high as possible.

I just keep researching for the score.
