As of the time of this post, the GS leader with the most wins of any GS leader is as popular as the R&F leader with the fewest wins of any R&F leader. Their "win as" Steam achievements are both at 0.6%.

WITHOUT LOOKING at the achievements, what are your guesses as to who these leaders are? Try to put in your response without looking at what others are guessing.

Edit: Don't read further if you want a clean guess. The answers are in post 18 near the bottom of this page.

If Civfanatics are any indicator, Kupe is the most popular and Laurier is the least.

My guess would be the most popular GS leader is Eleanor and the least popular RF leader is Chandragupta.

Once this page fills up with guesses (fifteen more posts), I'll post who they are (and all the leaders' relative popularity, if people are curious), and we can discuss what we think. I started this thread because I don't think I would have guessed either correctly, and one of them particularly surprised me.

If you've looked, please don't post yet!

Haven't looked i'm going to guess Maori, given the general interest in him across multiple play styles since he is by far the most unique. Now I want to read this thread and look at the actual results!

    Post Guess EDIT:
    Spoiler :

Ok, so I have now looked, and I'm thinking it should have been obvious - but 1 leader as 2 civs is kind of cheating, isn't it?

I'm glad that who i guessed (Kupe) and who I actually finished my first game as (Kristina) are tied for seocnd place just 0.1% behind.

I'm going to guess without looking at the other posts:

Eleanor of France is the most popular GS leader because city flipping is a surprisingly satisfying mechanic.

And...probably Tamar of Georgia is the least popular R&F leader because her abilities are pretty lackluster.

According to the achievements, .7% have won with Chandragupta, and .6% with Eleanor

If you read the OP the idea was to guess without looking.

Just to be a hipster I'll say Matthias (most popular) and Robert the Bruce (least popular) ;)

But yeah it's gotta be Kupe right? No one can resist the pecs.

Okay, since no one else seems to want to guess:
Eleanor was the first GS leader to reach 0.6% on Steam a mere two weeks after release; Chandragupta finally reached 0.7% today over a year after R&F release.

But Kupe, Pachacuti, and Kristina are right behind at 0.5%. Laurier is at 0.4%, and the remaining four at 0.3%.

My interpretation: they did a good job of selecting leaders and making them interesting in GS, with the least popular leaders at half the wins of the most popular.

I think this shows that Canada and Eleanor were not bad choices; stereotypical uniques for Canada has not hurt its appeal, and a fun unique ability for Eleanor has made a controversial alternate leader choice appealing to play.

    Contrast with R&F:
Two weeks after R&F released, Seondeok was in the lead at 0.7%. OP science FTW!
    Poundmaker - 0.6%
    Robert and Wilhelmina - 0.4%
    Genghis - 0.3%
    Shaka and Lautaro - 0.2%
    Tamar and Chandragupta - 0.1%
There were much clearer preferences among the R&F leaders; they did not do as good a job at making them all interesting. The least played four needed more creative designs.

This is definitely in line with my perceptions of the leader and Civ design in GS v. R&F.

I'd have figured Maori to be the most popular since they're easily the most unique and interesting civ on paper at least. Then again I guess people might favour civs from their own nations and so the additions of Canada for example will get more plays from that. Personally I'm Swedish but I've still not touched Kristina so I'm not much of a nationalist there
