I love helping City States conquer cities, especially when they decide to keep them. Here's my best effort to date. Lhasa controls (and keeps) Babylon, Akkad, and Hanoi. Of course Akkad was the only city he could have razed. There was another city just to his south east which he did raze. Too bad that I lost the dyes.

I would have loved to have had a chance to take Babylon myself, because he had a couple of good wonders, but Lhasa became a monster beyond my control. I would have also helped Lhasa take Stockholm, just to the south, but I needed the maritime food bonus.

Wow, really? That's ridiculous. I'm going to have to try this... do you get bonuses from ALL of the resources in their borders, now?

Yeah this has been one of my fun pastimes, too, some time ago. I was able to pimp a CS so much with Mech Inf that it single-handedly took out George Washington (kept 3 of his cities or so)

My largest one had 4 cities and took out most of France together with a real civ while I fueled the proxy war staying neutral with France. Paris was awesome.

lol that sounds pretty cool. I love it when city states take over (and control) other cities in my games, but they always raze them. :(

How did you manage to get Lhasa to be so powerful? Just give it a bunch of units and gold or something?

Try turning city razing off in advanced options, I once had Florence in control of an empire of around ten cities by doing that. Of course then you have to deal with the AI's crappy placement when you go on a conquering spree.

This is actually how I prefer to get rid of annoying enemy CSes when possible, weaken it down for my ally CS to take it over, and then I don't get the warmonger points (as quickly)

A city state single handedly captured Tenochtitlan so I didn't have to.

Is there anyway to Mod it so that they dont Raze cities?

if so that would be GREAT! you could just build a cashing milking machine of an empire, buy up all the CS and give them a crap load of units!

Pretty impressive :goodjob: I've also had some fun doing this, but I don't think I've ever seen one get bigger than 3 cities. CS appear to move their units randomly (even more so than regular AI civs) so you just have to give them a lot of units, help by bombarding where possible, and hope.

Lhasa was difficult to maneuver against Hanoi. As you can see from the image above, I have 1 mech infantry, 2 rocket artillery, and a general staged just east of the city. I originally had 2 mechs. I first bombarded the city to smithreens, and gifts modern armor to Lhasa. For some reason, the CS wouldn't move its forces into attack position. After a few turns, I gifted one of the mechs I had positioned two squares away from Hanoi. Lhasa immediately attacked the city with it.

I greatly enjoy seeing the Modern Armor sitting there in one of their conquered cities. Who knew Lhasa was such the beast?!

Nothing like a Tibetan conqueror....? Those evil... errr... Tibetans?

CSs do construct Manhattan Project, but I've never seen them use nukes.

I have never seen a CS conquer anything by itself. I had a few enemy CSs within my empire once but they didn't even bother attacking me.

I actually did once see a CS conquer another CS withouth help from another player (Though I didn't actually see it, I was just notified and looked)

CS move at least 5 spaces from their border. They can conquer a city without help. And I think they don't raze when they have the happiness to handle the annexation.
