The G3 tour, while not technically a band, is excellent, particularly with its founding members present.

Although what are you asking? G3 isn't really under-rated, it's simply under-popular, smart people rate it very well.

Those two were 80s bands. The Psychedelic Furs were a New Wave band, while Curiosity Killed the Cat was a British pop band. To be honest, I simply prefer the older styles of music to the modern music of today.

    Here's two of their songs:

Oh and speaking of 80s bands, I would also suggest the New Wave band Frankie Goes to Hollywood and rock band Foreigner:

As I replied to similar thread some years ago: of the big ones, The Kinks.

It would be absurd to answer some small band that you've never heard, since there's tons of them, and of course I know only few of them too. So why would some band be the most underated, only because I have heard it?

The Kinks, I think, made not only fabulous music, but also influenced many followers. For some reason it isn't quite as known as some other big names. Well, everybody has of course heard Sunny Afternoon, You really got me ans Lola, but surprisingly many don't even know who made them.

The Kinks are second only to the Beatles.

I'm not sure that you're using the word "under-rated" properly.

    I think I am :)

The point is that there's tons of underrated small bands, and because tehy're underrated, I've never even heard of most of them. Now if I pick some small underrated band I have heard of, why would it be more underrated than some of those that I haven't heard of?

Thus I can pick the most underrated band only of those which are so big that every decently civilized 20-year old knows them.

EDIT: Of course it's justified to say that The Kinks is so respected that it can not be called underrated, but judging by the part you quoted you didn't mean this

That's an equally arbitrary method. It's better just to assume that subjectivity is written into the question.

Well yes. I also thought it would promote discussion, if you knew the band too.

    Here's Deep Turtle, which I think was severely underrated;

There is no such thing as an underrated band.

    I like New Model Army.

    Hawkwind very underrated too ;)

    I love PWEI as well.

Public Enemy seem to be forgotten in the rap genre as well.

Everyone thinks the Stranglers are good though.. right?

The Kinks: srsly, how can a band as ossim as the Kinks not be on a list of greatest British Rock Bands? I chalk it up to their being banned from the US circuit, but after You Really Got Me, everyone seems to just forget about the Kinks.

Also The Band. Another unassuming band (aside from The Weight), but really rather ossim.
