How do you know you can get more cash? (I have BUG too)

Or do you mean simply when an AI has more per turn gold income, you should cancel ressource to gold deal and make it again at a higher price?

Typically that will work. Just make sure you don't cancel all deals at the same time or you could get negative diplomatic modifiers.

    More advice:

Don't upgrade all your airships - save some as subspotters.

Always have siege weapons. Lots of them. They're as essential in demolishing enemy counteroffences as they are in taking cities.

    Circumnavigate whenever possible.

If you want to vassalize your enemy, take a lot of their territory before accepting their capitulation! Too strong vassals can be a pain later on.

    Use nukes sparingly.

Be careful about spreading corps to your own territory.

Granaries, farms and whips are a winning combination (that's not underrated but anyway).

If possible, try to be the first to get destroyers and use this monopoly to your advantage. Blitz destroyers devour enemy navies, and a properly promoted destroyer can take on battleships with good odds. Provided your enemies, harassed by these destroyers, ever get one operational.

Air power. Nothing more to it.

Utilize your traits, UU and UB to the max. If you're SPI, change civics whenever you feel it's advantageous and religion whenever someone asks you, FIN means cottaging and PHI specialists.

Never believe someone like me who is only Noble, my advice won't be all valid on higher levels. Possibly not even on lower ones.

    Most underrated pieces of advice:
    - don't sacrifice expansion for other things in the early game unless there is a really good reason to do so anyway
    - run pairs of scientists in your early game cities
    - don't rely on tech trades below Immortal level
    - when you have a military advantage, drive it to the extreme. The only successful type of war is the total one!

Try to have the same religion as the strongest other civ. That way the chances of them declaring war are much less. Alternatively, have the same religion as a blocking neighbor to your most dangerous enemy.

That makes it a good candidate for a Polycast topic, right? :D

    Well, for being constructive:

-There is no such thing as optimal play in Civ IV. Ok, maybe there is , but it was not found already and i doubt that it will ever be.

    - Always consider building the apostolic palace if you can't depend on your neighbors to build it for you. The hammer bonus is great and it's even better if the AP religion is your state religion (more control over resolutions). I don't recall seeing the hammer bonus in the Civilopedia.

What do you mean by "rely"? As in engaging in them, or counting on them to produce a significant amount of your techs?

Since you don't have cheap collateral damage at sea, using a single cruise missile on a ship you want to attack can be a good way to significantly increase your attack odds without wasting a whole ship just damaging it.

On big sea stacks, a tactical nuke mightn't go astray either. At least at sea it doesn't leave fallout, though AIs will still hate you for launching one.

Fighters work pretty well here too. It isn't collateral, but when you have double digit fighters, you don't care about collateral so much as just doing some damage (and you will other than the odd destro intercept).

You're using confusing terminology:rolleyes:! What's this "usual bedtime"?!

    Here's my top 5:

#1 Set the clock on and set the alarm if you have to leave the house.
#2 Be the first to get bombers/ destoryers
#3 Raze the hell out of enemy land. You get cash, kill their war economy, and can build it back.
#4 When you rex, grab the best land first
#5 Bring plenty of siege units
