Select the trees you feel have at least 1 policy with universal appeal. For example, vote for Nationalism if you always get 1 or more policies in Nationalism after reaching the Industrial Era (if you did not get Freedom, obviously).

Forgot to tag freedom for farms. Honor is also more attractive early but I haven't had many games yet in 1.7. Is this just over openers or cherry picked policies?

I reworded the post to try and clarify what I'm looking for. The goal is for every tree to have at least one "universal" policy, while the rest in the tree are "specialized" policies. This encourages us to get a few policies in every tree, and most of our policies in a few trees.

I would expect Piety and Patronage to remain very specialised then. The main utility for those could be to increase the viability of either religion/faith or city states rather than to spread more things into those trees.

Otherwise, pretty much every tree has at least something to offer now, and the only one that limits is not getting Autocracy to get Freedom instead (or vice versa). I'm still not sure how that plays with the diplomatic system for the late game trees as GK has exclusivity for all 3 in vanilla.

Fair enough. :) I figured that was accessible to modding. I preferred it the other way, but if the diplomatic effects work, so be it.

Hmm. They probably should have been larger. Was that comparable to the religion diplomacy modifiers?

(In any case, this is straying OT...:)).

I went knowledge and order.

Knowledge's science boost is too good to ignore in most cases (especially the 20% while happy boost), and Order's providing of a great engineer (plus another through faith building in most cases) is a huge plus.

Liberty/Tradition - Generally I pick one or the other, though I have gone both at times.
Honor - My least chosen, generally I want tradition or liberty.
Piety - Culture wins only, though I will admit the +1 happy for shrines and temples looks really tempting in general.
Commerce - It has some great bonuses now, if I was going to pick a third tree as an always pick it would be this one.
Freedom - Also has some decent bonuses, the temptation is growing.
Nationalism - Never touch it in most cases, especially since it conflicts with freedom.
