Hi all,

I'm having a very strange problem in Civ 4. Throughout the whole program (main menu, game, everything) the mouse will jump to a specific spot on the screen (somewhere near the top right corner). It will also click every once in a while, which moves the game screen over all the time. I've concluded that it's not the mouse I'm using, because it does it without any mouse plugged in at all (it's a tablet PC, an Acer C310).

I've already made sure there are no mouse trails, so I have no idea what to do with this. The game is unplayable as it is now.

Any suggestions?

Can you determine if the issue only occurs on power or without? Also, have you tried other mice to see if the same problem exists. If you have, and the issue continues to be only on white backgrounds, then I would start to look at the video drivers as the potential problem. Have you tried re-installing those? Also...how long has this been happeneing? Can you recall any sort of software install or other system modification that was made shortly before this problem popped up?

Hey sorry for taking so long to reply, it took me a while to test it out well enough. It seems that sometimes the mouse will jump, and other times it is well behaved.

Okay, so first off it doesn't matter what kind of mouse is plugged in. I have a cordless optical and a trackball and it happened with both of them. It also happens when I unplug the mouse altogether.

Second, I can't play if the power isn't plugged in, because the computer won't have enough power to run the game.

Third, according to nVidia and Acer, there aren't any newer drivers I could try.

This started happening as soon as I installed the game. I had the game running on this computer before, then accidentally I killed the master boot record, so I had to reformat it and start again, so it was installed on a fresh copy of XP.

I also should mention it mainly only happens when I'm playing on my second screen (my desktop screen, 1440x900). The game would also go black and the computer would sometimes reset itself... which is more troubling than the mouse moving itself.
