Moving the demo to offline desktop?

I have two computers, my gaming computer has a broken network card and has no internet connection. So can I download demo via steam, move it to my desktop and play it?

You should be able to.
Download it via steam, afterwards you should be able to set steam to offline mode. Then copying it over to your gaming computer should hopefully work, but it's not sure.

It seems I need steam to run to start it, even in offline mode and it can't install on desktop since it got no internet. Catch 22 here...I'm depressed and now my prejudices towards steam have come true.
