Moving to Florida?

They call it God's waiting room for a reason.

My mom is considering moving to Florida with my sister. I'll be somewhere in the Northeast for Uni though so I won't have to deal with that horrible place.

At any rate she's considering Florida. What I want to know is it a boring town? Is there anything to do there? Is it a lively town and how are the schools?

Is it a good place to move and how is the weather?

Florida is a state, not a town. Miami, Daytona, Orlando, Tampa, Lauterdale the Keys and most of the south part of the state are great. Beach, broads, nightlife, great food. Very latin, lotta cubanos and carribean immigrants. The downside is a crazy realestate market and a high cost of living, plus humidity.

The north part of the state like Jacksonville and Panama City are a little more like the US south. The weather is a little more moderate and lifestyle is a little slower.

Uh, Florida is a state and pretty good one at it.

Florida is pretty big too....there are some really fun towns, and some really awful, crappy ones too.

Talahasse I believe. Florida is part of the Bible Belt isn;t it? JESUSLAND!!

Well I'm don't have to go so it doesn't matter to me personally.

The north is probably more conservative, but head to South Beach some night and tell me its part of Jesusland.

Florida is a craphole. All of it.

I hope you enjoy humidity, hurricanes, and old people.

Coming from a Floridian (is that a word?) tell them don't do it

My wife, who lived in Florida for over a decade, likes New England a lot better. :)

Yeah, Florida isn't exactly awesome unless you're Hispanic or old.

I am planning on getting out of here as soon as I'm done with college and off to Medical School.

A good friend of mine lives in Florida and has committed suicide as a result of his experience.

It has pretty big roaches to go with the fire ant plague.

I like it for the most part, but I really miss mountains. Everything is completely flat. Other than that though, it's not so bad, although the experience varies greatly from area to area.
